Grizzly G0572 Hanging Air Filter w/ remote initial impressions.
NOTICE: I had posted this review on another forum (Lumberjocks). This is a copy / paste of that review that I had authored there. Full text of the original review follows. For starters, I am not claiming this is an all inclusive review, but rather this is an initial impressions write up for the Grizzly G0572 Hanging Air Filter w/ remote. I have been watching price tags on these machines for quite some time now, and had considered the smaller Jet, Penn State, Delta, even Harbor Freight models, ... -

Grizzly T10223 Sliding Table Attachment Install & First Impression
I thought that there might be some interest on this forum in my experience ordering for and installing the Grizzly T10223 Sliding Table on my SawStop cabinet saw and my first impression on how it works. I ordered the sliding table via the internet on a Saturday, got confirmation that they received my order within a few hours. Monday they send me the order number, confirmed the cost of the unit $525.00, a discount of $25.00 to equal the UPS brokerage fee (I live in Toronto, Canada) plus ... -

Shark Guard 10.4 initial impressions
I was lucky enough to have an early Shark Guard (Version 4.0 I believe) on my BT3100 when I bought it, and it worked well enough, except for the lack of anti kickback pawls always left me feeling a bit uneasy, and the dust collection port was 2" instead of 2.5", meaning connection to my dust collector required a reducer, and a more than liberal application of duct tape to make the connection work at all... The few shortcomings I saw with my early Shark Guard were more than amply addressed with the re... -

Harbor Freight pocket hole jig
Has anyone here tried the HF pocket hole jig # 96264 as yet? I saw one in their local store the other day and decided to try one....on sale for $49.99 down from the usual $69.00. I haven't actually used it on a real project as yet , but have made a couple of test cuts and joints using the jig on some scraps and it works surprisingly well so far! Good points: (1) 4 different drilling positions for the pocket holes in different thickness of stock. (2) good quality, adjustable stock holding clamp (3) a... -

Handheld Metal Detector
I recently purchased this scanner to check lumber prior to planing and am very pleased with its performance and quality. I realize its from China, but hey what isn,t nowadays. Overall its very sensitive and easily scans a width of 8 inches. The price was great and although shipping take a few weeks I,m very impressed with the quality of this product and highly recommend it to others here. Heres the listing at E-Bay,.., http://cgi.ebay.com/Handheld-Metal-D...d-ECA05-/20048... -

Peachtree Pro Clamps and Fence option
I recently purchased the 24 inch Peachtree Pro Clamp and the Fence accessory for use on my bandsaws and shaper. This is a well built clamp of incredible stregth. In the one photo I,m actually lifting the shaper off the floor on 1 side with the clamp pressure alone. The fence is a very solid piece of aluminum thats attached to the Pro clamp via t-bolts and a slot on the clamp. I would highly recommend this as an alternative to other more expensive fences. These clamps come with a variety of attachments... -

Central Pneumatic 97526 23ga air pin nailer
A quick rundown of the Central Pneumatic 97526 23ga pnuematic pin nailer. For starters, this IS a Harbor Freight tool. And like most Harbor Freight stuff, it is lacking some of the more refined features of more expensive tools. But at a price of $22.99 minus a 20% coupon discount, you can walk into your shop with one of these, and a fatter wallet to boot! Air consumption was reasonable as my little 2 HP 8 gallon compressor (Central Pneumatic 95386 easily able to keep up with the air demand of t... -

HF 12" quick clamp
The Harbor Freight 12" quick clamp/spreader looks like a great buy when on sale with coupon for $1.99, however, the main drawback with these units are that they fail when too much pressure is applied. The unit appears to be well made with a steel ratchet bar and a hard dense pvc for the handle. It has non marring pads for the jaws and works very smoothly. My initial impressions at the store were quite good and I picked up 6 of them thinking what a steal. It was only in use did I realize the ach... -

HF 95275 Pancake Compressor
I broke the regulator off of my cheap coleman portable compressor over a year ago. Since I was unable to remove the remnants of the broken pipe with an easy-out, I wrote it off. Two weeks ago, I received a copy of Westways magazine from AAA. Inside was a $39.99 coupon for the Harbor Freight 95275 3 Gallon Pancake air compressor. It took two trips to the store to lay my hands on one, but I'm very favorably impressed. Overall this seems to a quality unit - better than the Coleman unit it r... -

Irwin Chisels 4pk by "Marples"
Picked up a 4pk of basic chisels. By Irwin, labeled Marples on the package. Got them from PMenards on sale for $22. Got them home, handles are cheap plastic, blades very very dull. For $22, I'm not worried too much, but overall, very unimpressed. I will use them to split firewood I guess. I may try to sharpen then, but probably not. -

MLCS Digital Angle Rule
I was in the market for a Wixey Digital Angle Gauge, but while shopping at MLCS online, I found a "new item" - their Digital Angle Rule. Since the rule appeared to have more functionality than a Wixey gauge alone, and retails for a few bucks less than a Wixey gauge ($34.99), I picked one up. It functions as a protractor. Comes with one CR2032 Li Battery not installed (new), has a readout that displays in tenths/degree, and can be zeroed out from any position of the two rules (relative to each oth... -

Craftsman 22219 Wide Table Leg Kit for 22811.
Well they came! Sears item 22219 Wide Table Leg Kit for Craftsman model 22811 table saws. Now to refresh the memory of those that don’t recall, the 22811 was a Ryobi BT3000 table saw, with a Craftsman label on the front, and a different hand wheel. (and probably a few minor tweaks elsewhere, see Loring's FAQ for more detail!) The leg kit is a functional match for the no longer available Ryobi accessory for my BT3100. I do say functional as the leg kit is NOT a cosmetic match, as the BT3100 st... -

Harbor Freight Electric Paint Remover Model 65990
I've been using this paint remover on my house with good results. It spins a 4.5 inch (scotch brite type material) disk. Paint & bondo are easily removed & feathered (doesn't seem to dig or gouge the wood). This tool is available internet or catalog only for $33 & $6 for replacement disks. I think this tool would be popular if it were available in the HF stores. Wagner makes a similar tool ($85 & $15 for replacement disks). Wagner claims the secret to this tool is the 2500 rpm disk speed,...

by LCHIENTrying to drill into a outside 90 degree corner, 45° to each side, is tough, the drill bit keeps wanting to walk off.
You can whack a small flat on the corner.
But here is a way I did it perfectly. Using this corner drill jig
Using the drilling jig, One hand is enough to hold the jig while drilling. The small board touching the top of the jig is my measurement stick. I use that to set the precise reproducible location of the hole relative to the top of the workpiece....-

by LCHIENHere's how I do my Featherboard operations. As you know, Featherboards are spring boards meant to hold the workpiece against the fence snugly to ensure accurate rips while freeing both your hands for hand over hand and push stick smooth, even feeding of the workpiece to avoid burning and sawmarks.
The Feather board is the classic one that they suggest you make.... Mine was made 20+ years ago, apparently a 1x4 piece of pine wood with one end cut at 30 degrees. 15-16 inches long 3 to...-

by LCHIENI made a belly pan dust collection for my BT3000, using a commercially available, cheap dust pan from one of the woodworking supply houses with a 4" hose fitting.
It seems to work effectively very simple DC belly pan under BT3000. Not tightly fitting I wanted to allow air in to carry the dust to the DC, pulling on a closed cabinet is not a good idea. So the plywood sits on the stand, not screwed down or anything. So there's air coming in thru the ends and the Shroud dust port arc....-

I have found a perfect T-nut for the front of the BT3 miter fence and for the left side of the rip fence (same extrusion used both places)
Its actually a weld nut, but fits the T-slot described above.
Weld Nut: #10-24 Thread, Tab, 1/32 in Base Ht, 3/8 in Base Wd, 5/8 in Base Lg, Steel, 50 PK

by LCHIENAfter a bit more thinking, some universal T-bolts for the rip miter fence make more sense than fixture blocks.
The two big slots in the rip fence and the miter fence and the front and rear rails are sized to take 1.00 inches wide x 1/8th and 1-1/8" wide x 1/8th.
So I took some 1/8th flat Aluminum 1.00 inches wide and cut 1-1/8" long to make a 1" x 1-1/8" rectangular plates; I used a short rip fence Block to space the length but not cause a kickback with the...-
