I kind of like the fact they are bright red (DANGER!) colored. Paint the red line and make sure it doesn't cross and you won't cut it off... -

I retrofitted my Harbor Freight bandsaw with a Grizzly G0555 tension release mechanism. Carter has one as well although it isn't cheap, it IS low risk... -
