To answer the question, the expanded work are is solved by getting extension rails. Once sold as an accessory, you can also use rails from bt3000 or bt3100....Last edited by LCHIEN; Today, 01:53 PM. -
It takes a lot of energy to bend a 1/4" shank.
My only comment is I can't find a picture of a bent 1/2" shank.

Using a 1/4" shank bit for power planing with a router makes me nervous. Usually with the rails the bit extension is long and the bit is fairly large...Leave a comment:

seems like the are trying to make it right. In general I hold Freud/Diablo products in high regard. -
strength is probably primarily proportional to the cross section of the shank which is proportional to the square of the radius..

I still have a 1/4" Craftsman router from the 70s. I still have a little plastic case with I think four original bits from my original purchase...... -

I think I have a 3/8 drive and 1/2" drive from HF, they were cheap on sale at one time.

I have production ty wrap tools the pull the loose end tight and then cut flush at b the ratchet nut. That's the right tool for ty wraps but not a woodworking...
