Wasn't sure where to put this but wanted to be sure it was seen. I purchased this at the bottom price of $39.95. There was at least one post on the forum that cited a problem with the bit rising and falling when the router was turned on. I wanted to be sure that mine did not have this feature. I guess I am satisfied with the purchase, but only because it was inexpensive. Had I paid full price I would certainly return this tool. Setting bit height is not very smooth and the scale to do this rotates too easily and can cause errors. Advice: measure it and don't bother with the depth ring.

The overall feel of the tool is cheap, while the bases are magnesium, they have the feel of plastic. Some of the dust collection tubes were cracked when I opened the case. Not worth sending back for this issue.

The slow start is very slow and it seems to take a long time for the router to reach top rpm. When it does it is quite a bit louder than my Hitachi. I believe it is bearing noise so I am not sure this router will last that long.

I had a tough time mounting this to the BT3100 router table as the base of the router is quite large. Finally managed it, but the mounting plate now looks like swiss cheese.

Edge routed a piece of pine and it did OK, no slowing or burning. I will try some hardwood next.

For $40 or $50 its just OK, more than that and it falls short on the value for this type of tool. I will leave it on the BT3100 as a dedicated edge router and do the rest on my router table with the Hitachi. If it fails I will not buy another, even at the $40 mark.


I also purchased the handheld planer which works well and seems to be a better tool than I expected. Paid $19.95, free shipping.
