  • Relay booster box

Over the years i've posted a number of things. one popular one was the relay booster box. this allowed a 1-15 A trigger to operate a high current and or high voltage device like the bigger dust collectors 20 or more amp and 120 or 240 volts.. The trigger was from another high current tool like a table saw. this prevented the DC and the TS from working off the same breaker. or to use a low current remote - most don't like big motor loads - to control the DC, or to use different voltages

The instructions are reposted thanks to Relative who stored them in his server prior to this forum allowing PDF files.
I am putting them back in the forum attachments here

    the instructions cover three versions
    • Tool switch controlling relay with separate 120 V power
    • remote control controlling 120 V relay
    • remote switch controlling 220 V relay

    • How to identify a Ryobi BT3000/BT3100/Craftsman 22811 or 21829 clone saw by sight
      by LCHIEN
So you want to buy a BT3 clone. Been out of production for a while. Shopping on Craigs list or for sale ads is hard

You have to keep an eye out and you have to be used to spotting the appearance giveaway features of the various models... Ryobi BT3000, BT3100, Craftsman 22811 and 21829
There are certain things that clue you in and there are many ads that don't give model numbers and have crappy photos. Search for keywords RYOBI, Precision, System are often used i ad listings and

    • Screw friction products EZ-Grip and Screw Grab?
      by LCHIEN
I was reading an article about fasteners the other day.
They mentioned a couple of products I had not heard of before:

      EZ-grip and Screw Grab

Apparently if you have a screw that you have a hard time engaging like a worn Phillips, a drop of these products will increase the friction between the screw and the driver 8X it is claimed so that you can back out the screw.

You can find them both at Amazon.
Not cheap 5 oz of EZ-GRIP is $20; 1/2 oz of Screw...

    • A review of the Kreg Precision Trak & Stop Kit
      by twistsol

      Summary
I built my miter station last summer and used the Kreg Precision Trak & Stop Kit. The kit was just the starting point. 8 feet of track and a single flip stop didn’t meet my needs since I was building a miter station the width of my shop, nearly 24 feet. I added four 48” pieces of top track and three additional swing stops so I could have two left and two right. Finally, I added metric rules to the top. Total cost breakdown is as follows

      BT3000 tall rip fence

      09-12-2021, 07:58 PM
I have had a tall BT3000 fence for a number of years, I should have used it a few days ago but I didn't because it was too much trouble, And I paid the price as the tall item was a little unstable and I had a hard time controlling it as the two pieces separated and wallowed out a bigger kerf than I wanted at one place.

Anyway the BT3000 tall fence is generally held on by the T-slots in the side of the rip fence. This is...

    • Review of VIX-type Self Centering drill bits
      by LCHIEN
I have always had trouble mounting small hardware on small wood boxes, with the hasps and hinges always looking slightly off perfectly square - particularly a problem with flat head screws and countersunk hardware which aligns the hardware to the hole location and centers on the hole.

I'm talking small wood screws. I place and mark the hardware carefully and mark the center of the hole with a sharp awl.
The problem comes about with small bits like 1/16 and 5/64 and 3/32"...
