Got a miter guage plate. How do i build the fence?

Hello, i recentky picked up a second hand craftsman tablesaw that came with a miter guage plate. Im wondering if anyone has a blueprint or detailed diagram on how to build a new fence for it. I hsve a 3d printer if i need a couple odd bits of hardware for it.

First of all the name for your piece is the Sliding Miter table (SMT). Helps if we all use the same terminology.
And your picture is upside down, the silver extension is usually on the front of the saw. It can be a hip basher when not in use, people mount it backwards like you picture when not in use for miter cuts.

You are missing the Miter fence Assembly.
The key parts of the Miter Fence for the BT3 series are
      • Fence extrusion
      • Miter fence holder - a block that uses a knob and bolt to tighten to the track that travels in the slot in the SMT
      • A 5/16 Bolt whose head fits through the hole at the end of the slot to capture the knob and holder
      • A sliding black plastic pin that rides a slot in the bottom of the fence extrusion and pins in one of the holes on either side of the SMT.
      • An orange plastic pointer that mount to the back of the fence extrusion and is about 1/4" back from the back edge of the fence, and indicatred the miter angle; the back of the fence in its normal position does not indicate the angle
      • Two plastic end caps for the miter fence extrusion which are really only decorative and perhaps sacrificial since the fence and the SMT can be slid far enough to the right to get cut when making cuts.

This is the fence extrusion; it is the same extrusion as used in the rip fence, may or may not be the same length exactly, doesn't matter for the miter fence.

Unfortunately its $91 at Amazon. You see them occasionally on eBay for much less; or you can buy a broken BT3000 rip fence and use that extrusion,

Here's one for $23 shipped on eBay but you still need a much of parts

You can definitely build a new fence for it using aluminum angle or square tubing and a locking cam. There are some great DIY fence plans on YouTube and LumberJocks, or Sawblade.tv.

So buying a complete functional fence is the easiest way,
here are some on the internet/ebay for $65-75. That's what I would do.

If you haven't got it already, the BT3FAQ is a useful reference on this family of saws... the link is in my signature line at the end of this post.

If you need the end pieces I have them already 3D printed in PETG in either orange or red. Drop me a message for arrangements to get them, or the .stl file.
