Hitachi 15" Floor Drill Press $125 @ Lowes

Model B16RM - marked down from $199 to @125. They had a stack of 5 plus the display model at the Lowes in Plymouth Meeting, PA today at 8:30 PM.

Looked pretty nice - I would have picked one up if I hadn't gotten a Delta on clearance last year. It doesn't seem to show up on Lowes website, but I tracked down the Hitachi page for it:

Why is it that Phildelphia area stores seem to lead the way with these deep discounts?

Nice drill press. Unfortunately they do not carry it in this area.

I knew they would eventually drop the price on that puppy, FINALLY. Tomorrow I'll have to see what the price looks like here and/or try to get a price match. Thanks for the info.

Whats the Stroke (vertical Quill travel) on that model? NOt listed in the Hitachi specs.
          2"? 3.5"? 4"?

Oh, see it in the PDF manual. Spindle travel: 3.125"

Looks like a nice DP for $125...

            Joe,
I just called the Plymouth Meeting store to verify the price before heading out to my local Lowes to attempt a price match. The Plymouth Meeting store said it was $199. Was it marked down by hand? Or with a sticker?

Maybe I called the wrong store? I tried the one at 2002 CHEMICAL ROAD.
Could you verify? And thanks for the post.

Monte, they have them up here in grand rapids if you are interested, it might be worth giving the stores a call.

It still seems like a bargain at $199. The cross-hair laser is fantastic. Can I add that to my Ryobi WDP1850 somehow?

It is the one on Chemical Road. It was marked down by sticker in the tool corral. There was one on display, and a few stacked next to it. If I can get back there this week, I'll try to grab a cameraphone photo and SKU#.

First I called the other Lowes (610-834-8885), and asked to be transferred to the tool dept and they told me the drill press was "on sale" for $125. The I went to my local store to try to have them price match. They called that store's service desk, who told them it was still $199, and then I told them to ask for the tool dept, who apparently told them it was a one-item-only deal, so they wouldn't match it for me. Has anyone else had any luck getting their Lowes to match this price?

Sears Craftsman sells one for about $45. I've added it to my (Delta 12" benchtop) DP although I had to custom make a mounting ring. They only supply adapters for Sears machines.

Well, it seems fantastic. Mine doesnt want to hold its bearings for some reason.

But, the built in work light is a fantastic feature and one they should put on every drill press.
