But I'm a little miffed that my Woodpecker's order for all sorts of marking/measuring goodies is now delayed for at least three weeks. Sheesh.

Also, I learned this weekend that all of my Harbor Freight tapes (dozens, free coupons) disagree with my Incra measures. Hmm...

That's why there is one and only one tape measure in my shop. It doesn't matter if it's accurate or not, as long as it's consistent.

I want to have them everywhere I might want one. But I consider them just rough calculators, and use only one specific tape from Fastcap for important measurements. Most of my tools have precise measurements on them.

Thanks for posting this Pappy - I missed visiting them on that day and could not find it later.
And this is so well made, I wonder if this is the best of their entire series over the years?

BTW, I wonder if your post was too subtle, and if people missed the original point of it...?

So true. I have three, and yet this morning I could find none, and had to grab at a paper-tape lying around (the type that's given away at Ikea)...

I own Schrodinger's tape measures. They exist everywhere in the shop and nowhere to be found all at once.

That is me with screwdrivers: I know I have 20 common screwdrivers and 25 Philips. I can find a dozen regular when I need a phillips, but nary a phillips, AND I can find half a dozen phillips when I need a regular, but nary a regular! They segregate and migrate!

My screwdrivers all have homes. Rarely lost. But maybe only because I rarely need one while woodworking.

It boils down to having a place for every tools you have.. when looking for any of them, just go straight.

That definitely does not help me with some things, such as tapes. They need to be all over so I can just grab one. I never think to grab one BEFORE walking over to where I need it.

Though I just added a little mesh metal cart to the shop where I'm putting the tools and supplies like screws needed for the job at hand, and rolling it around to the workspaces as needed.
