Playing with blocks and not remotely woodworking.

After two weeks of shoveling 13 yards of dirt out from under the deck, and then shoveling in and compacting 8 and a half yards of crushed limestone, I finally got a start on the pavers.

I made it through almost 3 pallets of of pavers yesterday and have 5 left to go. My neighbor is a teacher and does this as a side job so I've gotten some good advice, as well as free use of his plate compactor.

    Start of laying pavers

Still a lot of pavers to lay.

I finished up everything that didn't need cutting just before the downpour started on Sunday afternoon. It stopped raining sometime overnight so I'll get back to it tonight after work.

capncarl My back hurts, as do my legs and arms. The quote for a poured concrete slab with exposed aggregate was $20k and the materials for this project cost less than $4k so at least my wallet doesn't hurt ... as much.

Last night I got to the point where I had three blocks left to cut and wore through the rim of my diamond saw so that I was just spinning a steel disk on concrete block and it was not cutting a thing. A trip to HD for a new blade. The used blade was a full inch in diameter smaller than the new one. I also had to pick up more spikes for the edging.

I'll get the last few blocks cut and set tonight and there are half a dozen blocks that need to be re-leveled before I'm ready for the polymeric sand.
