Another brief shop project - air hose reel

Cleaning the shop I found this naked air hose reel I rescued from work many years back.

Blew off the cobwebs, oiled the very squeaky reel and fashioned a wood crank handle for it.

Put some air fittings on it and pressure/leak tested. A quick base from scrap wood.

Works great! I've been keeping my driveway PU hose on one of those orange extension cord handreels.
But this is much nicer, you don't have to hold the reel while pealing off hose and the QC female actually works axially as a swivel, even under pressure.

Aired up the car tires right after. Much easier to deploy the hose.
probably could do away with the quick connects at the reel hub and just hard connect that to reduce the bend.

Nice find. I have an auto retracting 50' air hose reel in the shop, (not mounted yet) but my air hose in the garage is in a pile and needs to be untangled every time i use it.

I recently bought a self-retracting reel with 50' of "extra soft" hose from HD, and wish I'd done it long ago. Soft hose is so much easier to use. And self retracting let me put it way up high out of the way. Wall space is a premium in my shop.

Well done. Love my hose reels. Went through several iterations over the years.

That was a well done Loring. Excellent. Looks New!

I have forever had air leak problems with quick connectors until I bought these:

Excellent fittings. I would buy them again.

Nice work. Good to see the old equipment kept in use!
