After reading their 'Terms and Conditions' I have a feeling anyone that gets their order cancelled won't have a leg to stand on. I'd love to get the drill for this price, but I have no problem with Sears protecting themselves from a potentially large loss. I placed my order this afternoon, but haven't received a confirmation yet.

Here are the Terms and Conditions I referred to:

I got lucky. I ordered one at one store then told they were out of stock. Ordered at another and never cot e-mail confirmations. Went to the store anyway and the manager honored the $180. Store price was $480.

BTY - I have a 15" DP and this thing is substantially larger/heavier.

My local would *not* honor the online price. I never did get an online confirmation so they had me order a second time at the store. Still no confirmation and no drill. I called their customer service number and I was told that my orders were "receiving further scrutiny". I asked what that meant and was told that they weren't sure that the orders were legit. I did post to them this AM that one of the orders was a mistake. I guessing that they will both be cancelled. Oh well, almost a gloat.
            Blessings,
            Chiz

              Success!! And More!!

              All,

I purchased a new unit at Sears B&M @ 3:00pm today for $149.99!!!! and I have it at home now!

              For more details read on...

I ordered this drill in the morning like everybody else. At 3:00pm when I left work I still had not received my email conf. I drove to the store (on my way home) and went to pick up. After a few minutes the guy said the order didn't go through (yeah) and I needed to go up to the tools dept and order one locally.

I checked the display on the way to the desk, sure enough, it's labelled at $179.99. I told the tool counter I wanted to buy the drill 22901. It rang up at $479. I told them, online it was $179. I showed them the web printout and my first web order printout. He took the papers and started to walk off to speak with a manager. I stopped him and said the display in store also said $179.99. He went to go look at the sign and returned to the tool counter.

He decided he needed to call a manager, but many had gone home already. He talked to one manager who was giving and interview so the manager couldn't really think about it, and just said make it a pricematch to override the computer.

The tool guy said ok. He put in the override, since the difference was $300 he needed a swipe from a manager. After waiting for a manager to come, one finally showed up. She was not tool literate. She was about to swipe when she said he entered it in wrong. She looked away and he corrected it, and entered it as a pricematch. He advised me that because of the pricematch I would be getting an extra 10% off the difference, or $30 more dollars! I didn't argue with that! The lady swiped her card and walked away. I swiped my CC as fast as I could. $149.99 + tax! Nice.

I walked down to product pick up and scanned a real barcode this time. Five minutes later the 17" DP was being loaded into my truck.

Hot dog! An excellent deal. I must have been the first one today to purchase that drill in store. I still have a web order, but I don't know if that will go through. If it does, I guess I'll try to sell the drill locally for a little profit.

Thanks all on this forum who alert us of these fabulous deals.

I ordered while this was still only on 1 page this morning and I never got the confirmation email from Sears. I called Sears customer service and was told that they are upgrading their system and that it could take up to 48 hours for me to get the confirmation email. I didn't like this answer so I went to the store and told them that I had placed the order online and that I didn't get the confirmation email. I had printed out my order from Sears.com showing the store and what I had paid. After about 15 minutes of a guy going back and forth, he brought it out and loaded it into my vehicle. Error or not, I'm glad that I got one of these.

Assembling the unit was entertaining and the first time I lower the chuck the handle breaks. Now I get to call Sears on Monday and get them to send me a part.

When you go to pickup the web order (if it goes through), just tell them that you would like to cancel the order. I've done it before and they have the ability to cancel it right then and there. It takes them a few days before they credit back the credit card, but if you don't really want it then this is an option.

Or you could be a real sweetheart and sell it to someone on the list for the price that you paid. I don't know where you live, but I'm sure someone from the list would drive to pick this up.

It would be too expensive to ship this monster!

Man I'm glad this deal is over. It took everything to resist buying more tools. My credit card is so proud of me.

                      Great ending....

I called customer service and as I expected was told it was a pricing error and my order would be cancelled. I was the 6th person to call this particular representative asking about the drill. I had no problem with the news.

So, I made the short drive over to my local Sears and they still had the $179.99 price on the drill press. I quickly flagged down an associate and made the purchase. The managers did have to override the $529.99 price it rang up as, and they quickly took the sale tag off the display. Hard to believe I was the first person to try and buy this today, but I'm glad I was.

I did feel a bit guilty, knowing it was all an error, so I bought the 2 yr service agreement for $19.99.

After placing 2 orders online this morning for pickup at different stores, and not getting any confirmation, I just headed to the store after work to see what was up. The display price was 180 and they had just sold their last of 3 in stock. The tool guy suggested to place another order for pickup at the store since the others would probably get cancelled. So, he did so and rang it up as 149.99! I don't know if this was the same guy as Pakaderm's (and if you got the last of the stock, since I was there around 3:30), but others may want to try the Torrance store at the Fashion Center. I did have to wait for the manager approval, but since she was the only one working in the whole store, she didn't bother to check anything.

Now, I have to wait till 10/16 to pickup, and I have to wait for the other 2 orders to cancel, or deal with returning them later.

As for me, I did place an internet order but did not get the email confirmation. I placed the order 10:00am PST and still hasn't gotten an email yet

I decided to visit the sears near me and they did have it in stock, 3 i believe. And the price was $179. I quickly told the tool guy i want to buy one, young kid . He couldn't believe the price. He actually said "350 dollars saving, wow." He check it again, sure enough it was same model # as the tag. He called the supervisor and adjusted the price. The kid was actually happy for me. But the supervisor said to keep the tag behind the register.

Now to cancel the internet order

Thanks to the OP and everybody else who contributes to this forum. Now I'm happy and broke.
