      Michael,
Thanks....I got mine down in Qakerbridge Mall....only store that I checked that had them listed as 'available' about 10:00am Friday morning.

Later in the afternoon (around 4:15) I was in the Paramus Park Sears store....they had the $179 sign right on it....the sales guy asked if I needed help, so I asked if he had any in stock....None.....He didn't seem to know of any issues or even that the price was particularly good.

I'm waiting with baited breath. The order appears to have gone through, and I am showing a date of 10/17. I have not gotten any cancellations as of right now, but I am not showing a charge on the card. Maybe I am not charged until I pick it up. I may call the store to see if it is in stock. If so, I'm taking a quick trip up the highway.

Picked up one with the confirmation email -- deal not dead!

Knowing full well this deal is YMMV, I went down to my local (Concord, CA) Sears with my "your order is ready for pickup" email receipt.

10 minutes later it's in my truck, no drama, no fuss. I guess there are still some out there if you have your confirmation email.

Boy, the corporate BS from Sears just goes on. I'll pull out the relevant bits rather than using the lengthy cut and paste method:
              ------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for shopping at Sears.com. Unfortunately, due to either the demand for the item(s) that you ordered or the method of your payment; we were unable to process your order. Consequently, we will be canceling your order for the item(s) listed below.
              • No charge will be assessed to your credit card ************
              ------------------------------------------------------
OK, so I know that I'm toast (by the way, our store never had the $179 price tag - just the $50 off price). Then, today I get this:
              -----------------------------------------------------

Thank you for shopping with sears.com.
The credit account number (MasterCard ending xxxx) provided with your order #6461371 on 12-Oct-2007, was not authorized by your credit issuer. As a result, we could not complete your order.

For you convenience we are providing this web link to take you back to your sears.com shopping cart to select a new form of payment. The items included in your order are ready for checkout.

Remember to take advantage of our online SearsCard application. Apply online during checkout and, if approved, apply your purchase to your new account. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. We recommend that you contact your credit issuer directly (phone number is located on the back of most credit cards) for further information and assistance.

              --------------------------------------------------------
Well, my hope returns because I know the card is good and maybe I had a misprint in my entry. So, I naturally click on the link to my Shopping Link and I get this:
              --------------------------------------------------------
We're sorry, we cannot process your request at this time. Please try again later.
              --------------------------------------------------------
Next, I enter the item ID number to the search box and get this:
              --------------------------------------------------------
              Search Results

Sorry, we are having trouble locating a match for "00922901000" .
              --------------------------------------------------------
You know, I can take it that they made a mistake and that they won't make good on it. I don't like it but I'm happy for those who got theirs. But to spend time 'staging' all of this crap. It makes them look bad - in my book, at least. So, back to what I was building in the shop.

Edit: It happened again. Just as I was sending the message above I receive another post from Snears. Here is is:
              -------------------------------------------------------

Hey, no fair. When I typed that, I had just gotten back from an overnighter/Cub Carnival with my Cub Scout pack. We had a great time. It was funny watching most of the men on the grounds of the Scout Camp. They were ALL hitting the web on their cell phones. I figure it was one of three things, they were checking the Sears site to see if their order went through for their drill presses, watching the scores of the football games, or watching JG win at Charlotte last night.

First thing I did after taking my shower was a good brushing of the teeth. Felt almost human after that.

                  Chiz,

I feel your pain. I had two orders with Amazon do the exact same thing. First was the $500 PM shaper. They stated CC did not go through. Interesting since I was not using CC! This is when they had pay by check direct draft. I was told I could not change payment method, I would have to create a new order at the $2800 price!

The second issue I had was my router lift. It was a deal where you buy a power tool and get 20% off accessory, plus there was a bench dog discount and a stacking router accessory discount. I used gift card on this order. They processed the GMC Sander using the gift card, then a couple weeks later when the lift came in they sent me something stating CC couldnt be processed! When they "corrected" the payment method lo and behold there was no discounts! Took me an hour with India to get it corrected. They were arguing that I was absolutely wrong, there was no missing discount, the order had not been changed, etc. Then I remembered the confirmation email and dug it out of Google archive. That corrected the issue.

I don't mind if a company will not honor a price due to mistake. I would just appreciate them being up front about it. Heck I am up front. I'm trying to buy their product for 80% off!

Dude, I saw a posting on WN or SMC that had a CL listing within HOURS of the deal showing up on the website. Bunch of scammers.

I say he needs a few hundred inquiries offering $179!
