    Sears being jerks

For those of you that have ordered and can get to a store I would do so immediately. My buddy ordered online for pickup locally, printed his receipt, and went to the store to get it. On entering, he went to the DP on the floor and saw that they have several in stock. When he went to the service counter they hemmed and hawed about it, and finally made him talk to the Sears headquarters. Sears did not want to honor the deal, and told the store to tell him that they were out of stock and would give him the floor model for that price, and that they would order another for the store. However, the manager saw the scam, and let my buddy have an in-the-box DP for the sale amount. He is so happy he is almost giddy. I am pretty pissed at sears for trying to pull this stunt. Be aware that Sears knows what is going on, and they will do anything to stop the sale. Good luck.

Just tried to order online with local pickup. Local store is now amazingly out of stock, and the site won't let me order, yet the page still pulls up. Needless to say, I'm rather ticked, especially since the wife said that I could decide.

Edit: Just found some about an hour away. I pulled the trigger. Now to see if they honor the deal.

ok now I get there on lunch and the kid that helped me on the phone and said "are you wize" and I said yeah and he said "are we cool" and I said "yeah why" and he said cause my manager is all over me about this and I have another customer calling about the drill. Apparently this is a one day sale and was a mistake on the price. It is supposed to be 479.99. He said that when I called he checked teh model number in the computer and the price was 479.99 but then I told him that the price should be 179.99 adn he told me to hold on and he went to speak to the manager. I never said about the net price. Well the manager went over to the drill press on the store and seen there was a sign at the drill press and it was for 179.99 and she removed it and said, "not no more it is". Then she got on the phone with me and told me the price is 479.99 and she dont know where I got the 179.99 price. Then I told her on am currently on Sears.com and it is 179.99 there until tomarrow. She went to the site and had nothing to say. I told her I would be by in a half hour to get my drill press and I have printed out the ad. I have no ability to buy online at work or I would have bought it asap. The story is relayed to me by the clerk who I bought the drill press from just now. So I got it and it did not fit in my car so I am going back tonight to get it. And susan maire (who is the store manager)is one pissed off woman. She told me they will not sell me the drill press at the online price. I told her fine and I went to a kiosk in the store with a computer for online ordering and I ordered it and ended up going back with the confirmation. She did not like that stunt either. Apparently, from teh time I talked to her till I got there, she called corporate and they confirmed that this is in fact a mistake.

Mistake or not, they should be required to honor the price until the website changes. As of me posting this message, the web price is STILL 179.99.

Alright, what should I do. I actually got the confirmation (and charged) that my order was ready and received the e-mail w/bar code to bring to cust. pickup.

Ya hoo....but then I get a call saying the store inventory was wrong and I should come in and re-order and have it sent to the store. Oh, they will give me an additionl 10% off. Hung up, then thought there is no more online stock. Is he just holding back??? (tried to call the store to check stock but no one answers)

You can try what worked for me ...

Went to customer pickup WITH my printed confirmation ... tried to pick it up when they came out and said store inventory was wrong ... asked for manager and wrestled with him until he said they would order "in store" for same price ... and then made sure he did it ... now ... I don't HAVE the DP in hand until it comes to the store 11/1/07 (promise date) but I do have an IN STORE PRINTED RECEIPT for pickup ...

Good luck ... what a goat rodeo this has turned out to be!!

Jumped on it. However still did not get email confirmation. The local store has the price of $479.99. I guess the order will be canceled by sears.

Ordered mine at 9:47 AM. Took care of some biz and was not home to check email. Called store at 1:30 PM and they said it was pulled and waiting on me. Picked it up about 3:30 PM. Got home and found confirmation email arrived at 9:59 AM.

I know one of our forum members bought one, drove 20 miles to store and could not pick it up. He came home and as of 1:30 PM still did not have a confirmation email. I *believe* he ordered before I did, so could it be that these emails are originated when the store receives the order and confirms the item is in stock? Sounds likely.

I am not sure what the deal was, but I have had that problem in the past and I had that problem this time. I don't know what I did to correct that issue. I *believe* creating an account instead of using the other check out method would probably correct this circular issue.

Make sure you select your service plan, or that you don't want one. I forgot to do that the first time and it wouldn't take me to the next screen until I made a selection.

No, its not that . . . I chose no service plan, went to next screen input payment info, then it went back to cart. Happened a few times and has happened in the past when I bought appliances.

I have the screen printed and I can bring it up as a valid order if I go onto their site. But no email at all.

Should I just go to the store and try to pick it up ?

I just called the store my order is going through. I placed the order over 2 hours ago, and they do not have it in their system. I'm wondering if corporate offices are holding up the orders. I just checked the site, and the page has finally been taken down. If they cancel my order, I'm calling corporate and letting them know that either can honor the price or lose me as a customer. Like a lot of you, I've spent THOUSANDS at Sears over the years, and will talk with my money.
