Gary: I did work on some sketches yesterday, as planned, but didn't get the accompanying write-up completely finished and now see that your new thread has pretty much covered most of what I was going to say, anyway. The guys gave you some good food for thought.

    Jeff: Ummm ... no.

But I would be willing to offer my thoughts, for what they're worth, on any layout you're looking at. I went through a ZILLION permutations of the major-tools layout for my new shop space. At this point I'm not sure I know a whole lot about what DOES work, but I can offer reams of advice on what DOESN'T work.

Mine's being delivered tomorrow between 10 and 2. Pretty fast service. Now I have to get an electrician in.

Lots a whole lot like the pile 'o parts I had on my shop floor a few weeks ago, except mine were painted gold.

I like where they put the dust port on that saw ... that's perfect, since the space under that wing is already shot anyway due to the motor access cover. On a PM2000, the dust port is on the back of the saw, in almost the worst possible place.

How much does it take to move this saw while unassembled? I have a similar sized one coming that i'll need to get off a utility trailer. I know it isn't the full shipping weight as the fence is shipped separate and the wings can be removed from the package, but i imagine it'll still be 300 lbs. Can this be done by alone by an average person, will it take a couple, or more? I'm not looking to assemble it, just slide it off the trailer so the trailer can be returned.

              Thanks!

I'm pretty sure this one is at least 400 on the stripped down cabinet, motor & top. It's bolted to the pallet. I unbolted and gently slid off the pallet, but if you are moving it off a trailer, I wouldn't advise going it alone and risking damage to the saw or worse, yourself...unless the trailer has a ramp and your saw is mounted to a pallet also - you might be able to carefully slide it (I'd still get a helper for 5 minutes). I found once I got it on stable ground, i had no problem moving it around.

Mine was delivered this afternoon in a 26' box truck with a lift gate. I had the driver back up the driveway, which slopes in the wrong direction, then watched the poor guy wrestle the pallet up hill from the back of the box to the lift gate on a pallet jack. Very polite, very nice fellow.

I wish I'd had the foresight to order the mobile base at the same time but I now have a Delta 50-289 on its way.

Very naive question about how to modify the Delta base, which I'm sure willl be too short. Can someone provide a bit more detail on exactly what materials are required and how they attached it?

I'm in the same boat - mobile base on the way, but not totally clear on how to adapt it to fit the Jet. Also - are we going to have to get the whole cabinet up on top of the base, or can we build the base sides around it?

How tall is the Jet? I was at Wilke today and they had a Uni on the floor. I can't believe how much shorter it is than the 22124.

Just called an electrician that has done work for me before - he'll do it for $150 for a 220v 20amp. (my panel is about 12 feet away) Fair?

I just put in 30A, b/c (unless NEC was revised since my copy) technically you're supposed to assume 17A for a 3 hp motor, and dividing by 0.8 gives 21.3A-- too much for 12-ga wire. The actual saw motor is rated at 14.5A, so you'd think a 20A circuit would be fine. The resident EE could probably give the best advice here....

The 30A receptacle and plug got a little expensive. For 20A, if he's doing the saw plug and supplying all the materials, you've got the breaker, wire, box, receptacle, plug, and little stuff-- in the $30-$35 range-- plus labor. In an open basement the wire has to be protected as it goes down the wall, so you'd use a little conduit. $150 is reasonable IMO.

I just posted an assembly question over in Tool Talk, if anyone has input on this (related to router table insert) at: http://www.bt3central.com/showthread...751#post271751

                              Thanks!

Anyone getting a delivery bump on this one? I ordered mine 05/16/07. My original delivery date has already passed. New date for saw shipping date 08/03/2007 - Estimated Delivery 08/09/07 - 08/13/07. Freud blade is estimated shipping 06/10/07 - Estimated delivery 06/13/07 - 06/14/07.
I note the TS is showing as out of stock at this time. The blade is in stock and if I orderd it today I would have it tomorrow (Prime Member).
