    Sound off

How many here are going to refuse shipment of the 30"?

I sent an email to Amazon and CC'd Jeff Bezos saying how crazy their methods are. Turns out they "cannot" stop my shipment either. I know at least one other person is in the same boat.

    Reply here or PM me.

Jeffrey, if you get an answer on the extra liftgate charges please publish it here. Also, I am not aware that you need to schedule delivery... will the shipping company contact me for that or do I need to be proactive?
    Never met a bargain I didn't like.

Going based on what i've read only (no experience here), the shipping company calls when the package reaches your local distribution center to schedule delivery. I've also read that Amazon shipments include lift gate service. I can't find anything on their site about this though. There have been stories at Woodnet about shipping companies trying to charge for lift gate service, and the receipient contacted Amazon and got it for free. This is all second hand information though.

        Re: truck delivery ...

Some vendors have a mandatory lift-gate charge for deliveries to a residential address. It's possible amazon.com assumes a residential address, but I don't know that for sure.

Whether the truck line calls to schedule delivery may depend on the carrier, and possibly whether its going to a residence or business address. When my Grizzly band saw was delivered to the office about three years ago, they didn't call ahead. I've not had a huge number of common-carrier deliveries over the years, either for myself or for the company, but that's always been my experience -- they just show up; no call. However, in all cases, the delivery was made to a business address.

For a cabinet saw, you will definitely either need a lift gate, or the assistance of three or four gorillas.

I've received three 300 plus lb shipments via Amazon in the last several months and they all came with a lift gate truck and the driver put it right where I wanted it. They all called ahead in most cases, the evening prior to delivery.

Nope. BT3central is getting the commission. Should be nice too!

On delivery, I do know that they call ahead to schedule delivery. They have to because you have to sign off on no damage to container, etc. I maybe confusing this with Grizzly. Grizzly shipped UPS/Overnight Freight and lift gate was an additional charge if desired. Luckily I have access to a loading dock and forklift so that problem is solved!

Glad to hear about the lift gate. That will help a lot of folks.

BTW, looks like the deal is done. No longer accepting orders.

I just talked to a very high level guy at Amazon who informs me that there WILL BE A CHARGE TO REFUSE SHIPMENT. He said any information to the contrary is not correct and will not be honored.

He claimed that my order went into a non-cancellable state the same day I ordered it. I would have sworn that at the moment I placed my 2nd order the 1st one was still cancellable, however he claims that I am mistaken and that it was only the blade that could be cancelled. What's odd is that the blade is no longer part of the order, so I guess they went and cancelled that for me instead of the saw!

Anyway, I am not planning to eat $150 shipping and neither are they. Will have to find some other solution I guess.

We will see, I have the names of two people I spoke to that assured me, without a doubt that they will refund the shipping charge.
