    Availability, or lack thereof

While I was out and about in the Chicagoland area today I passed two HDs. Neither had any Herculifts, or BT3100s for that matter, where I could find them. When I asked them at my local HD to do a search, they found none in the district, which looked like it encompassed maybe 10 stores.

So if you see one where you live and want it, you'd best grab it. I'm really pleased at how easy it is to spin the BT around on it. $15 is a steal, imho.

Bought two more today. In the SF east bay area, San Ramon is sold out, but a search in the computer shows Tracy, Pleasanton and Concord each have four. Now Concord has two left.

The Tool Guys in Concord knew exactly where they were. One said the Herc-u-lifts weren't top sellers because the box does a poor job explaining what it is or what it does, and the tool corral area doesn't have room to have one on display. He said they were a good value at the "closeout" half price of $50, an even better value at $29 (when I previosly bought two). He called the current price "unbelievable".

I asked him why he hadn't snapped up the last ones? His reply: he already has eight ( ) and has "nothing else to put on one!"

Two HDs in my area were out, but one still had some. I got two.

          Thanks for the tip.

I picked up 3 at #4112 Roosevelt Blvd in Philly this am. Any other BORGS have armed security force working the doors? Holy smokes that place was as scary as the neighborhood I was in earlier today!

I don't think they had any more as I picked up the 3 on the floor and one had a inventory sticker that said there were 3 total.

I did spy a BT3100 on the overhead storage for those looking.

The Hers-U-Lift and the Herc-U-Lift Plus are different models, right? Because I just picked up the last HUL+ at my local BORG for the clearance price of $14.70.

I bought two Herc-U-Lifts at the HD in Broomall, PA this PM. There were two more left. You have to look for them; they're on the storage shelf, still in the brown cardboard shipping box (2 to a box).

Picked up a pair of H-U-L+es to complement the one on my BT3 last night in Waltham, MA at the clearance price. They appeared to have 4 remaining on the shelf (two more than the computer claimed) after I purchased mine. Well hidden 20 feet up over the folding wooden carpenter's rules.

According to the computer, Smithfield, RI (near Attleboro, MA) has a half dozen as well.

I bought two at Waltham about noon and there were still two left up overhead as well as one open on the floor next to the display Ridgid jointer.

                        Thanks for the heads-up!

I tried to write a thankyou for the notice a few days ago. Couldn't get on, so I finally decided to re-register.
Anyway, saw the posts on Thursday. Went by the closest one to me that had 4 about 3 weeks ago, but they were out...seems one guy bought all four of them. Hmmmmmm. They couldn't even find the sku in the computer to see if anyone else had any.
Got home, pulled the sku off of the internet (duh!) and called 2 stores. One had 2 in the computer, the other one showed 4. So off I go to soughtwest Ft. Worth to try to find them. I found 2 on the shelves. Both boxes were broken open at the long seem and one end, but everything inside was fine. A really nice young man helped me look for the other 2 (I wanted 3) for 20 to 25 minutes. He even took one of my business cards in case they showed up. I checked out, and was walking to the front door, when I passed a little display of tools and saw one more. Grabbed it and went back. Now I've got all I should need. Two on current equipment, four for future planned projects.
                          Thanks again! Jim.

There were 7 this morning, now 6, at the Oxnard, CA store. They were marked down to 29.99 but rang up at $14.70 at the register.

None left at the Eugene, OR, store yesterday, 9-5-06. Tool guy -- surprisingly helpful and knowledgeable -- said he couldn't believe how much they had marked them down. Oh, well, sure would have been nice. Now to get some good 3/4" birch ply and make my own with some of the casters I bought at the last Rockler sale.
