i've check 4 stores in Orange county CA and no luck. Anybody over hear see them? I was also looking for the clamps deal too. I did find a good deal on those fluorescent light bulbs that take the place of normal incandescent bulbs. Use less power and give less heat. They're 99 cents! I've only seen it in the Laguna Niguel 1 though. Others have another brand for $5. that's a huge savings. HD sells them for $7

I just posted response in Tool Talk that I'd like to buy one of these vises. Sent Bill separate email with specifics.

For folks in Austin, I checked all three of the BigLots stores on the north side of town... sadly, no dice.

Okay, I have now determined this whole Record bench vise/Big Lots deal is a cruel hoax on us poor saps that keep striking out.
I thought I got blank stares at the tool crib in HD...nothing compared to explaining a bench vise to the BL people. I have searched high and low, even made a point on a recent business trip to check out their local BL and of course found nothing (well I did get an outfeed support for $12)
In order to keep my sanity I have decided to keep telling myself it was all a hoax...the pictures...everything. Very funny guys

For the record, if you have wanted one and needed one and couldn't go out and buy one, this thread has provided a source for aquisition. I think its worth 5 pages if it gets some folks a great deal on an otherwise costly bench vise. I don't really need one, but I have been following all the action. []

C'mon don't let the Record Vise thread die!!!

I have to admit,I didn't know that the Record company even existed until I saw the two vises at Big Lots that I ended up buying.I'm so impressed with the quality, that I ended up buying a Record 4" metalworking vise with quick release I saw today at Menards. It was on sale for $75 but they only had the display model and sold it to me for $49.I also plan on stocking up on some Record clamps that are still at Lowes. It kind of makes me sad that the company won't be producing anymore of these vises but I'm glad I was able to score a few.The quality is really apparent in these tools,it is a shame to see them go.

anyway, good luck to those still looking,I hope you find 'em.

Y'all in the Seattle area. Been to two BigLots today ( Petrovitsky and Sunset, both in Renton ) and did not find any. Both stores received shipments this morning and were stocking. Maybe the vises are an East Coast phenomenon. It seems that way.

Same over here on the Peninsula. None in Bremerton or Port Orchard. Is there a store in Tacoma?
