Reminds me of an old movie or movie short I saw a long, long time ago, from the 30's IIRC. These two guys are visiting NYC from a foreign country and (I'm paraphrasing here as it was a long time ago I saw this) and one says to the other something like he had heard America was really "advanced" but he didn't imagine how much. The other guy says something like, "What do you mean, show me". They walk back into the building and walk to the elevator and the first guy says, "Watch this".

An old lady walks to the elevator and pushes the button, the elevator door opens and she steps in and the door closes.

The first guy, excitedly says, "Watch". A few minutes later the elevator door opens and a young, attractive blond steps out.

The two guys excitedly hug each other and laughingly, jumping up and down exclaim, "I LOVE AMERICA"

Three years ago I met this incredibly beautiful woman. She was way out of my league, but I figured, what have I got to lose? So I asked her out on a date. Well, today I asked her to marry me.

                            She said no both times.
