You've described most of america with that sentence. But shhhhhhhhh, don't tell anyone. The political parties don't want us to know that we have anything in common with "the enemy"! As long as it's "liberal pukes" and "inbred bible thumpers" things can continue on their merry way and the elected officials of both parties can continue to take our money and give it to their campaign donors.

And here I thought it was the other way around!

I'm reminded of the word "parallax", which I learned in high school science.
        <H1>Definition of: Parallax
The apparent displacement of an object as seen from two different points that is not on a line with the object.

When reading the scale on your BT3X, if you stand a lttle to the left of the reticule the reading will appear greater than if you stand to the right. In neither case should you be judged a heretic, IMHO.

You guys with the left tilt table saw should really be posting from the other side of the aisle.

                Who cares?

Sometimes religion, politics, and other unmentionables get mentioned either directly or are implied. This board does not usually make a point of dragging up these topics for debate, but they sometimes get bumped into in the coffee pot section. I don't see the need to rant at someone on the internet that has a different view. If you plan on changing EVERYONE's mind on social issues, you don't have time for woodworking and should find another forum.

These days just about every news story hit a political vein. Yard sale signs bring up local police politics and opinions on how they do their job. My advice is to stay out of the weeds before you find yourself in the mud.

I think the reason we have so many Around the Coffee Pot posts is that most of the people here are friendly and you don't get blasted for asking something simple and sharing is such a good part of the community. I saw a study about a year ago concluding that while most people first seek information on the internet, they usually end up using it longer term for human interaction. (Sound anything like BT3Central???)

I am sure the same people that freak out like the OP also yell at the TV news, just nobody is there to hear them.
If you can read this you assembled wrong.

This feature is available, and IIRC I have called it to the attention of the mods, on the chance they were not aware it existed. Another forum I visit uses vBulletin and has this feature enabled. Each user can block certain sections; when blocked, they essentially cease to exist for that user. I know it works because I have blocked the off-topic section in that other forum.

Since I'm going to the trouble of replying, I'll add what I perhaps should not, which is to point out to the OP that the Americans ("normal" or not) who REALLY love our country are those who understand that there are other Americans who hold beliefs that may be contrary, even abhorrent, to their own ways of thinking.

Hmmm.... this surprises me (and it bothers me) because it means that I am not doing my job. Ideally since there is a 'no politics' rule there shouldn't be an apparent bias one way or the other. I didn't think there was. I'd prefer your post to read something along the lines of "This board does not tolerate postings of any political content". Yet we have at least two users - you and the OP who feel there is a bias towards one side. I guess we will have to start cracking down again. As a rule the mods prefer to let the members police themselves and for the most part it works.

Now see, there can be value in every post, even in a manifesto. After all, I learned about a political bias on this board, perceived or not.

The psychological context of mrjr post suggest that BT3Central forum may not be the source of his frustration, but an easy target for his venting. In these difficult times there are a lot of confusion and bitterness with a lot of people and they tend to take it out on anyone in their path. We all need a lot of self-control and learn to stay civil for the sake of our families, communities and country.

Good point, but how said is it that grown men (mostly) have to be reminded to ignore/avoid that which they do not care for?

I just wasted 5 minutes of my life reading this and wondered,,,,,why??

If attention is what the OP is looking for,,,,,,he got it.

I feel everyone has their opinions and I also feel that if he has made up his mind he will not be back on this forum to read what everyone wrote. IMO I think the mods and Sam do a pretty good job of making sure things are fair. There are times when emails are exchanged between them quite a few times, I know I forward these to Mark at work so he can help deal with them.

In my head I say lets just stop replying so it moves down the page.

Thanks. Not sure if anyone agrees with me. But in my line of work they call me "house" because I dont pull punches and tell it like it is. Sometimes it costs me friends etc. But I like to be honest and think that there is a slight lean to the left here. Nothing major but a slight lean. The fact that you care shows that this is a quality board!! And I dont think that you are causing the lean.
