If we run off everybody who does that, then are we any better than than them?
David, I'd summarize my position this way. It's not necessary for people to agree about everything all the time. It's also fine to hold strong beliefs and to forcefully state one's case. What's not acceptable is to call names or question someone's integrity or patriotism on the basis of their political or religious views.

I guess I don't know my left from my right.

I find it funny that he thinks the forum is on the left, because I have been on here many years and I always thought it leaned right. Either way doesn't bother me as I have that at home. My wife leans one way, and after an arguement I say yes dear.

I appeciate the job the moderators do here. It is very tough when dealing with this many personalities to keep things on the up and up. Some forums had so many flame wars that the forum actually went up in flames. We have disagreements here, but it never gets far out of hand because the moderators don't let it. Thank you moderators.

As far as the original poster, we exercise freedom of choice. Post if you want, stay within the guidelines, and you can learn some valuable information, and have some great relaxation time. If we don't ring your bell, take your chimes elsewhere.

Groucho Marx said: "Before I speak, I have something important to say". The ignore feature is available, and so is the ability to not reply to the thread. Since management decides the sensitivity of posted material, try private messaging to the OP/poster and there, voice your opinion. The management also has this option. It takes the controversy out of view, controlling needless run on conflict.

It sometimes evident that members find the need to demean another member in an open forum, one way or another. A PM is about as close to face to face some may want to get. Instead of throwing darts, try to work out the differences man to man, so to speak. This type of communication may be a better determining factor of the specific member to ignore, in lieu of a forum.

True. But if we say 'Good riddance!' rather than at least try a kinder, gentler approach then what purpose does that serve? There just might be a problem that we are not seeing but that they are.

I don't think it is a feature of a stock vBulletin install. There are some mods and hacks that can provide it and ignore threads too.

Whatever happened to this being a woodworking site anyways, enough of the political jibberish already lets talk wood. I have enjoyed this site and while some may not like it they always like the deals I post when I find them and I,ll continue to do so here as elsewhere. As far as the op goes, there are plenty off other sites to go to and he has that right. Let just end this here.

Wow! Gone for a couple days, and this is what I come back to? If this guy could come back, and be a good citizen, would I welcome him back? Yes I would. But I think the chances of this happening with a person so set in his political views, is very unlikely. More likely, he would be looking for some post that didn't agree with his way of thinking. Like a lot of other people here, I sometimes agree with the right, and sometimes agree with the left. That's why the politicians spend so much money trying to get my vote.

I deleted my earlier post as after thinking about it, why waste my time on somone who has been here a month or less and only posted twice. I have never noticed a lean one way or the other. Now I have had both David and Mark delete a post or remind me of the rules on occasion. They were doing their job and I stepped over the line. I consider my self a Moderate when it comes to politics but after living in and working for the State of California I have no use for politicans period. Living in Sacramento I have listened to Rush since he started more for the entertainment while I was working. LOML was a life long Kennedy Democrat. Last summer she changed and became extremly right wing and listened to Rush religously. Her reaction to what was going on became so out of control and extreme that I banned Rush from the house and car when I am around. We know she has had a series of TIA (mini strokes) and I think it has affected her think/reasoning. I do feel that extremist on either side can affect the thinking or reasoning of the unstable and cause them to do something they normally would not. With the current economic situation and all the other things flying around, normally reasonable people are going over the edge in their reaction to things. That being said, I will now go out in my shop turn on the radio to the Jazz station and start making a pen. Have a good day every one and remember "Don't sweat the petty stuff and don't pet the sweaty stuff."

I just noticed that the IAP, penturning web site has activated the Hide feature on their V-bullitin site might be something to consider here.
