2 posts and one was to say goodbye? His choice.

The post in question got a bit political and I think I read several post on both sides. The last post before a moderator steps in and cautioned everyone about not crossing the line doesn't mean that post was being singled out. I don't even know what that post said.

I have been here since the beginning, and will be here until either I or BT3Central is no more. For that duration there will be members I don't agree with on politics, religion, woodworking techniques, shop arrangement, or tool choices, etc. Betting they don't all agree with me, either.

If it bothers them enough to go away mad, so what? I will still be here.

I think it is interesting that a thread that I approved by a moderated new member has generated so much traffic. That some, okay maybe only one, member thinks we lean slightly one way or the other tells me that we, the staff are doing a fine job in moderating. We have the ability to skew it one way or the other, but as David has mentioned we choose the self moderation path most often. So when needed we act as garbage men, removing that quietly and without fanfare. I would much rather not know the member's political beliefs as I'm not changing mine. I do want to know what they are currently making in their shop. How their health is, what made them chuckle, how many fish they caught, show me pics of their vacation, and other small talk.

Ya know guys Pappy hit on something here that is the absolute honest truth. It is almost never the last post that gets me to jump in and cool things off. In this case it was the entire thread. I was off Scouting this weekend and most posts were already there when I read the thread. I'm also not sure I would have jumped in any sooner if I had been following it blow by blow. My style is to give opportunity for self moderation to happen.

This thread is now closed. There is not much more that can be said.
