50 (very careful) years without a scratch - and then...

stretching around the guard, to pull a thin strip thru - bang

I have lost the first joint in my right thumb . Spent the night in the ER, in lots of pain now. Fortunately I'm left handed.

    More when I can concentrate...

Dang (I was going to say something stronger) I am so very sorry you were injured.

Recover quickly and let us know how you are doing! And I hope it does not affect your moped skills.

Rod, sorry to hear your saw got the best of you, a key reminder to all of us to be ever vigilant.

Hope it heals quickly and doesn't become a handicap. Hate to hear what Carole had to say...

Rod, hang in there. I'll be praying for you.

You have a lot of sympathy from me. You're lucky, it could have been worse. I've had many close call nicks and stitches, and will clue you to keep it elevated as best you can. Happy pills for a few days helps too.

Rod, this has been a long day, and I hope that when I wake in the morning, I will find that I read this wrong and you really didn't cut off your thumb. In case I'm wrong, sorry about that and I hope you recover quickly.

Reading that sent the southern parts northward for a bit. Sorry for your pain and I am sure it isn't in vain as we, or at least I, will remember to use a bit more caution while using power tools. Speedy recovery.

That's terrible! So sorry. It just goes to show if it can happen to an icon like you, we had all better be even more vigilant.

Hope all goes as well as it can from here on out. Speedy recovery.
