Our thoughts and prayers are with you for a speedy recovery. I know that you are going to be taken care of. That is what a wife will do for you. Just like everyone else keep it elevated and take the meds if you need it.

And this will be something that we all think about when we are in the shop.

      Rod,

That is a wakeup call for us all. No matter how experienced we are, one split seconds lack of concentration and thats all it takes.

I wish you well and a speedy recovery so you can return to making the sawdust that none of use belive realy exists in your shop

      Best wishes
      Jon

I'm really sorry to hear that this happened Rod, hope everything goes well with your recovery. Just goes to show it takes only a fraction of a second's inattention for something awful to happen. I hope we can all keep it in mind and that it helps us stay safe in our shops.

Rod, sorry to hear about your injury. Thanks for sharing. I was doing the exact same thing yesterday and it crossed my mind I should maybe shut the saw off before grabbing the thin cut off, but I didn't. Next time I will.

              Mr. Rod,

The weather is finally nice here and I am just getting back to be able to use the larger tools, TS mainly. I'm very sorry to hear about your accident and I wish you a speedy recovery. It will weigh heavily on my mind when i question whether or not to use the guard, feather board, push stick, etc... It can and did happen to the best of us...

I wish you well, and for a speedy recovery, and as little pain as possible.

                Rod,
When something like this happens to an icon like you, it serves as a sad and sobering reminder to the rest of us just how dangerous our little hobby can be. Sorry to hear that you ended up as the latest (and probably not last) poster boy for shop safety . Get well soon....

                Mike

I think the proper term in Australian is "bugger". I'm really, really sorry to hear about this.

Rod, I hope your recovery is quick. Sorry you had to be a reminder to for the rest of us — things happen quickly around sharp spinning things.

Jezz Rod, what a bummer! Hope you recover soon. Only "good" thing I can think of is that you are left handed. My thoughts are with you. I cut off the pad of my left middle finger years ago; that one second of inattention sure can screw things up.

                          Sorry Rod

Hapens to the best of us, I have been there and done that. Were they able to save anything? On the better side, You will find that in time, you will be able to do almost any thing that you did before, The grip in your tight hand may be a little weak.I have dammaged 2 fingers, but they sewed the parts together, and did a fine job. Keep looking up.

No no! Look down (so you can see where your fingers are).

Rod, I'm sorry for your loss!

That being said without humor sir. Take care and let the medicine and nature do the healing effect. And I'm not one to make critical remarks about an injury that one suffers. We all make screw-ups, some small, others large. Just take it easy for a few days and let YLOYL help you out where necessary. Get well soon my friend.

Well, I found the first thread on this. That was a terrible accident. You'll be remembered in my prayers for a relatively short period of pain, and a speedy recovery. You would have been one of the last ones I expected to be posting something like this.
