If we're talking ground speed, I did 180 mph in a TGV train in France... wasn't driving and it didn't seem all that fast. Funny thing, the train had only four speeds - 0, 60 MPH, 120 mph, and 180 mph (0, 100, 200 and 400 kph), no in-betweens. I could see with my GPS when we switched. Most of the time we did 60 and 120, only for a short while did we do 180.
Danged French kids running up and down the aisles screaming and hollering (in french of course) the whole time. I really wanted to stick out my foot and trip them. But then, they saved our asses in WW II. Oh, wait, it was the other way around.

And I thought I oversimplified the subject.

Close to 100mph in my old Dart but it was shaking pretty good so I backed off. I had my little four banger Escape close to 90 mph before I realized it. I backed off there pretty quick as anything over 150km/h ( around 95 mph) is considered as stunt driving here. Lose your vehicle, lose your license, $2000 fine plus so much per km over the limit.

Motorcycle: 105mph on I-710 (actually, it was Highway 7 back then) during midday traffic. I was racing my sister, who was driving her pickup, before I realized how fast we were going Brought it back to the limit in a hurry.

Car: 95mph in my stock 1970 VW Beetle. How, you ask? (since the car didn't go that fast under the accelerator.) I was in neutral heading down the north-bound grade of I-5 (downslope off the "Grapevine"), and wanted to see where it would top out - but I chickened out at 95 because of how badly the car was shaking.

Best on 2 wheels, according to the time slip, 11.87 sec to cover the quarter mile and out the back door at 118 mph.

Fastest known on 4 wheels...147 mph in a '56 Chevy heading from Shreveport to Dallas on I-20. Speedometer cable snapped about 15 miles after I crossed the Texas line, but that's what the nice Officer told me I was doing.....

I have driven 151 mph in my Corvette and it had more to go, but ran out of safe road. Will try agin later this summer to get it up to the 170 mark.

How about in reverse? In High School a friend and I wondered if cruise control worked in reverse. It did, but we had to go about 40 MPH for it to kick in. Stupidest thing I ever did!

New 1981 Saab 900 downtown Sioux Falls to Alex Johnson Hotel in Rapid City, 350 miles, one gas stop, pulled one car out of the ditch still made it in 4 hours.

The speeddo was limited to 85 it was done in third. My guess was around 120

Many other fine diving certificates from the fine law enforcement establishment, fortunately most of them were not at high speed. Worst was 27 over on I 45 in Texas (75 mph limit)
