Craftsman are hard to beat for a plastic handle screwdriver. I have a variety of screwdrivers, and I doubt if any particular style comprises a complete set. Most were bought at flea markets and garage sales in the last century when I was starting out and couldn't afford to buy new sets.

I never really understood how a "cabinetmakers screwdriver" was so different than a plastic handle one. Just having a wood handle is nice, but it just fits the hand better. With the shape, it makes turning the screw and slipping the hand for grip as it turns easy.

I have a drawer full of almost every shape out there. The best ones are my Robertsons-a very Canadian screwdriver.

          Loring,

Several of my Japanese drivers have "plus" (+) or "minus" (-) symbols on the handle end but I haven't noticed them on US screwdrivers. I kept a pair each on shelves behind my lathe, behind my bandsaw, beside my TS and behind the DP. It sure made for quick identification.

If I could only get my shop set up over here and find my Japanese drivers!

Confession, the Pittsburghs are actually small prybars. You NEVER use screwdrivers for prying, do you?

Handy they have the curved tips, helps as a fulcrum for prying things.

Never. That would be a sin. That's what prybars are for. Not even as a can opener. I have a dedicated tool for that (check it out).

I have an assortment of them too, but I don't keep them in with my screwdrivers.

Are the (+) drivers JIS or philips?

Mine isn't from the 50s rather 1988 when I was in 7th grade. My middle
school's Science Olympiad team made nationals and we got to go. The only
stinky thing was that nationals was being hosted in our city (Dover, DE) so
we didn't get to go anywhere. Anyway, the night before the competition, all
the students get together for a swap meet. You bring stuff from your home
state and swap it for souvenirs from other people's home state.

I forgot what I traded this for, but I'm pretty sure I got it from a kid from
Indiana. It's been on my keychain every since I was in college and has come
in very handy over the years. My first screwdriver and one of my favorites.

The Science Olympiad the next year was in Colorado. Boulder was awesome!

Every time I think about tossing out some of my "redundant" screwdrivers I remember that one time when that one was the only one that fit best for tweaking that frozen screw.

                          Let's see...

Snap On blue handle screwdriver set (6pc)
                          Stanley 8pc set.
Task Force 115 piece set in a big zippered pouch. No kidding. These things are terrible, but they were cheap, and if somebody wants to borrow a screwdriver, welll. they are loaners...
                          Great Neck multi tool
                          Craftsman ratcheting screwdriver.
B&D cordless screwdriver that is quite dead. I need to toss it...
                          Great Neck Torx set
Snap On carburetor adjustment set for Weber & Deloroto carburettors (very odd specialty drivers for working on old high end imports like Porsches...)
Snap On tamper resistant Torx set.

                            let's see by memory:
Snap-on 8 pc. set lime green handles like this
                            Snap-on ratcheting same color
Several offset combo, 1/4" flat / #2 phillips
An assortment of blue, red, clear Craftsman slotted and phillips
Some Stanley's that are next to worthless plus some Stanleys of better quality
A few second hand from yard sales or found
2 Mac Torx that look like this purchased specifically to work on a Colt 22
A small selection of Brownells fixed gunsmiths drivers
A gunsmith driver and bit set Champion, I think
                            Couple of other torx drivers
A cheap set of minature drivers
Lots of bits and several different bit sets
I'm sure there are more that I am forgetting.

Kobalt set - really like the gribs and magnatized heads
                              Assorted mismatched screw drivers.

Quick tip: I use to alway have to go down to my basement workshop to get a basic screw driver. I finially had the great idea to put a flat head and phillips driver where I need them. I have a set upstairs, set in our "junk" drawer, car, and garage. I also have put a tape measure in roughly the same places.

I have about 3 of em.
And way too many of other assorted that if I used one a day, and then tossed it, there still would be a bunch left after I died.
