yes, that would the the RIGHT thing to do. A NEMA 5-20P plug.

I think I recalled you said you put in the 20Amp receptacles when you did your rewiring project?
I personally would look carefully at the 20A plug and receptacles at the store. to handle more current they would have to have beefier prongs, more tighter spring retention and heavier screw terminals. If they're really not heavier duty in those regards, its almost like, why bother. OTOH, the personal sense to do it right, and if you have to buy a new plug, then just get the 20Amp and be done with it.
