In this case the spammer was sending PM's to members not emailing. Our best effort to fight this abuse is for members to report it as it happens to a mod. We ban violators as they are reported or discovered. We also ban new members who post spam to our forum before the general membership even gets a chance to see the post. Thanks to your help in reporting these abuses.

Just got a **** spammer from Ecuador using the private message on the board. Anyone else getting this BS? If there was a requirement that one has to be a poster before creating an account and sending out this spam it sure would help.

Not me... FWIW, I still think new members should be moderated for the first say 25 messages...

                Tom, John,

Was it with a name that ended in "Du"? I can't change the sequences of events that deal with this. Legitimate new members need access to PM. So, what can be done will looked at, I am sure.

I can ban the person. If you want to PM me with the user name, if it is not the above, and they will be banned.

                    Got it too this AM.
I agree with John Hunter, other forums that I frequent only allow "free" posting after a certain number of posts are reviewed by a moderator. That probably won't stop this sort of thing if the spammer is diligent enough to continue though.

I received one and it requested a read receipt (I didn't think that was an option here). I canceled the receipt.

This one was for audiobooks, and mp3 music on dvd. He also gave an email address (gmail) and stated that the offer would be good til the 1st (probably killing the email address then).
In the old days, that email would be sent to every other spammer thing I could find to flood (killing it early).

                          Hey,

And I always thought that most of my PMs were SPAM.

I banned one new member this morning. If there was just one it may take a while until all the PM's sent are deleted. Needless to say if you receive a spam PM report it.
