Pappy,
I don't recall the magazine I saw it in, but they showed a pony clamp holder that was 2 pieces. The bottom just a strip of ripped plywood, the top was cut with a jigsaw, with the outline of the head of the pony clamp. That way the clamp just got set down in it... Might try something like that for your Quick Grips...
Personally I kind of like that slot idea others posted here. Quick, simple, effective. What more do you need?
If you want uber simplicity, just do what I did...
Take some 2x4 scrap cutoffs, some 2x2 cut to 32" (for those 16" On center studs) and screw it all together. My bar clamps CAN just hang there, I chose to push the jaws shut for neatness. Your quick grips should hang similarly...Last edited by dbhost; 06-08-2008, 10:39 PM.Please like and subscribe to my YouTube channel. Please check out and subscribe to my Workshop Blog.Comment

Pappy,
I cruised your pics, and I am definately jealous that you have enough yard to put up a dedicated shop / shed... Maybe if I build out in the Bayou the county won't notice right?...
Anyway, you are right on interior space in that shed for sure. I was looking at Suwats articles link the other day, and saw his clamp storage solution, and it occoured to me that this might be something you might want to do...
Suwat's Clamp Rack build article.
I am considering building something similar myself and ripping out my over (or under) glorified towel bars... I would have to make mine bigger though. Wide enough to handle 12 of each size in 36", 24", 12", and 6" (I am getting pretty good at finding what I want at HF on sale CHEAP). I will also need a thin diameter towel bar of sorts to handle the spring clamps...
Hope this helps!Last edited by dbhost; 06-20-2008, 05:13 PM.Please like and subscribe to my YouTube channel. Please check out and subscribe to my Workshop Blog.Comment

My short quick grips are hung over the copper water pipe on the ceiling in my shop. My longer ones are hung on a rack similar to Rod's. His is a lot nicer than mine though.David

For four of my 6 inch QG's (the one's I use the most often) I do like Loring and keep them threaded over a 6" straight peg hook. Easy to grab right over my bench. The others I have clamped overhead to a crosstie in the roof of my shop. I have to step up on something to grab them, but it's the most out of the way place I have for now. I've been mulling over Suwat's solution posted by dbhost, but there's a lot of other projects that are ahead of it.- Chris.Comment

Rod's was the one I was thinking of and I found the plans in a Storage Solutions special edition from a couple of years ago. Biggest problem is the depth of the rack needed to give clearance for the handles. I may try another one with the slots at an angle to solve that. Also need to pick up a bungee cord for it.

When I am set up and working the cord can come off. It is just to keep then in place opening and closing the door.Don, aka Pappy,
