    New Living Room Table Project...

Today, I started the next table for our living room. This one will be a two drawer side table version of the coffee table I just finished, but smaller and taller. Now that the learning curve is over for the carcass design, it shouldn’t take me two plus years to get this one done. Won’t get the wood until after the holidays, but I’ll put pictures up when there’s something to show.

I completed the rough carcass for the two drawer side table for our living room. Dimensions are 24"Wx24"Dx24"H. All soft maple. Next is the baseboard for the bottom and then the top, both from hard maple. The interior is completely finished with medium walnut danish oil and polyurethane, so it can cure fully and not have varnish odors smelling up things once the top is on and the drawers installed.

Just an update on this table project. The carcass is done and finished on the interior. The top is done to applying the finish on the top side. Next,
        drawer slides and drawers.

Well, it's been a really busy summer with the granddaughter's travel volleyball, my infatuation with my electric riding mower, the rain infused yard work, and the pan****ic, but I have actually spent some time in the shop working wood. I finally have the drawer boxes done and hung on the full extension slides. Next up are the raised panel cock bead drawer fronts and then I can get to the finishing of this thing. I finally finished the second living room table for our home, just in time for Christmas. I will start on the third one after New Years. It will be similar in style, but open with a matching base and four posts supporting the top and a very, very thin drawer. Merry Christmas all and a safe New Years. Click image for larger version

Yeah, far longer than my usual 9 months. It seems the older I get, the slower I work. Although, outside work took a lot more time this year due to amount of rainfall we had here and a lot took more effort than usual. We'll see how long the next table takes. SWMBO already has two more pieces to design and build.
