How do you mark your work?

I am looking for a way to mark my work. Something like a trade mark or a brand name.

I could just sign a piece before I finished it but with my signature I should have been a doctor. Nobody would be able to read it.

I'm wondering if I could have a brand made that I could heat up and burn the wood.

Does anyone have any suggestions or know of any companies that could help?

    Thanks,
    Rand

I have a Rockler custom branding iron, too. Electric.
Takes about 10-15 minutes to heat up to working temp. About 10 seconds to brand it (always try on a scrap, first; duration and technique are key to a good burn), Then about 15 minutes to cool to where it can be put away .

I want one of those Rocker branding irons. I have been using a stamp die set to simply stamp my name into stuff that goes out as gifts...

Mine was a Christmas gift from LOML, who had been looking for interesting and unique ways to contribute to my hobby.

A catalog open to the right page might help.

It's been hinted at... However LOML and I are squeezing every penny this year for a delayed honeymoon, as well as getting out of debt, and fixing the mess Ike left behind...

This place seems to be the source for the Rockler Irons:
                http://www.brandingirons.com/index.html

It looks like the same product but the turnaround time is quicker. It looks a little easier to order exactly what you want from them as well.

I ordered a rubber stamp like this one for ~ $8. I stamp the piece and apply a clear coat over it. I also like to insert a penny from the year the piece was made as a time stamp.

I've been known to give some of mine a good, swift kick. 'Course I haven't made anything of heirloom quality.

                            Yet.
