What's the best way to remove the BORG stickers from the wood?

Sometimes the simplest things bug me the most!

Best way I've found is to choose wood with the sticker closest to end and make that the waste side!

GooGone will leave a citrus oil residue. Mineral spirits are better.

Can't speak for him but around here the BORG and Lowes are pretty much the only options. Anything wider than about 12 inches and you're stuck with pine or spruce too.

If you manage to peel it off or remove it chemically you'll find the wood underneath to be a different color due to light exposure, etc.

But a $300 planer will take that sticker right off along with 1/32nd inch of the wood.

So can I assume that you would be happy to ship me yours to use? LOL!

If I sand after removing with mineral spirits, will the light area vanish?

Compound miter saw. Takes it right off, right now.

I used a smilie-face, but, seriously, that's what I do -- cut off the couple inches of wood where the sticker is. I've found futzing around trying to remove the fool things to be way too much trouble, with substandard results.

Luckily the HD/Lowe's stores here are pretty good about placing the stickers near the end of the board, where little wood is lost. (The exception is MDF panels: on those, the sticker can be and usually is almost anywhere.)

Yeah, I understand what you are saying, but unfortunately the end with the sticker has the grain and coloration that I want. Have you tried the Valspar Goof Off product? Will it also leave a residue?

Will the whole piece be visable, or could you just leave the sticker on and make that the back side?

As posted above Mineral Spirits is definately the way to go. It will dry quickly and will not impact your staining/finish absorbtion rate like GooGone, etc. Mineral Spirits = cheap, effective and multiple uses.
