Meet Mabel:
I got "sort of" suckered in to building a coffee table for my older daughter's apartment (one kid out, one to go).
After taking a class last summer with Darrell Peart, on Greene & Greene details, I was sort of chomping at the bit to try out there new found skills. The request for the table came at the right time and as you all know, saying no to a daughter is impossible, for a host of reasons.
So here it is, Mable the Table, at least I thought the name funny at the time.
It's made entirely out of Cherry, with Ebony details, as per Darrell's book. The original table design was in FWW issue 178, Aug. 2005.
I changed some of it by using cherry, not Mahogany, floating tenons, not thru, and adding a full bottom shelf for her cat to hang out.
Usually I suck at building large things, but I found this less of a pain than I expected.
Let me know what you guys think. Should I go back to making boxes or have a giant shop sale?
Happy Easter,
Bruce
