I needed a reloading tray and had some scrap red oak. A little cut here, 50 holes drilled there, some router work, and voila.

BTW, what's the caliber? Looks close to .50, but pictures can be deceaving.

That's .40 S&W. I also reload .22-250.

That's a handy tray. Same kind of one I use for drill bits, router bits, just about any tool with a shank.

They're loose, all they have to do is hold the case upright.

I've got a custom made .22-250 that I inherited from my dad who inherited it from a friend of his. I've got a polaroid of the original owner holding the gun.

when i make stuff for woodworking i like it to be precise.
like when i made a peg game (like the ones at Cracker barrel) using wooden golf Tees I bought tees and calipered them by actual size into bins and used numbered drills to make them fit precisely - used a matched set of pegs for a specific board - it was a slick fit.

So I first envisioned your .40 bullets having a .405-.410" hole to fit precisely but I guess the rim at the end would require the hole to be somewhat oversize of the caliber.

That is something I haven't tried yet. And I need some .270... Deer season is coming up shortly...

I made one similar to that to hold 100 rounds of .223 or .204 Ruger for spraying with case lube. Needless to say, the water-based lube raised the grain. Next one will probably be sealed with varnish.

I haven't shot in ages, the cost has gone up so much so since I was active. Tom, one thing that I just couldn't get right with my Lee setup was a tight crimp between case and bullet, do you have any trouble there? I would some times have exaggerated muzzle flash so I figured the crimp wasn't tight enough.

No issues that I know about. I only crimp to remove the bell; nothing I reload has a cannelure.

I gave up hand loading years ago, it started to interfere with my woodworking.

Considering the price of .45 (just about all I shoot), I may just get back into it.
