    Old sylvania tv routering cabinet

    Hello All,

I keep almost every thing, my wife calls me Fred Sanford. We bought this TV in 1985 and carried it with us until it went out about 9 years ago. So to the basement it went. I had the router on my BT3000 but wanted it in its own cabinet. I had forgot about it. I was looking at the other end of the basement for some scrap wood for another project, and there it set behind some old doors. Out of the blue it came to me. Here is what i came up with.
    Hope you like it.
Thank You All For Looking 4est

Great job. I like the idea of having a "finished" router table top. It would make it a lot slicker.

Sweet! I really like the fence and its adjustment mechanism.

      Nicely done.

Nice reuse. How's the height working out for you?

I used to have that TV too, my wife finally got rid of it a couple years ago. It went out around the same time yours did. I bet I've still got the remote around somewhere.

              Dbhost,

That was what we old'uns used to call a "Console TV," virtually indestructable.

I have threatened to convert mothers old 1960's Kenmore sewing machine cabinet into a router table, just to get it out of the way. I has a nice outfeed table. ..... oh, oh, just thought about it, it has a variable speed foot controler that could be use on different woodworking equipment.

                Thanks for making me think!

That's a good use for the TV, being analog it would have taken a lot of repairs to make it compatible with digital broadcasts.

Isn't it a little bit low??? More extension legs perhaps?

I turned 2 2x4 on their side and bolted them to the bottom frame and added 4 Hard rubber locking swivel wheels. That added about 7"s and its just the right heigth for me. Also it is all wood console. A little spray polish and i'm ready to go, until i have to go back to the shop so wife can clean.
                    Thanks All 4est

Nice job. I saw this and had to smile. It reminds me of something my dad would do. He sees uses for things that always amazes me. Resoucefulness is a fine attribute I hope it serves you well.

Yeah, and they weighed a ton, too.

My family had one with the old-school channel knobs. My dad used to make me get up and change the channel for him (you didn't argue with Sarge) and one day I got fed up and said, "WHY don't we get a remote-control TV?" He said, "Why? We have you."

I went off to college and the first time I came home there was a brand-new console TV WITH remote. Go figure.

LOL, you know, I don't recall my dad ever washing a car, he had us do it when we were kids, now he pays to get it done.
