Over the past several months I've been working on checkering a stock for a relative. The stock is for a Ruger No.1 barreled for the .25-20 single shot and was built for single shot competition. Click on the picture to be directed to a photo album of more views plus two of other stocks. BTW the stock was roughed out by Al Beisen, fitted and finished by it's owner. I only did the checkering. I've been told that the value of such a peice of wood is $1k...so all in value of this stock alone will be close to $1.3k.

Anytime you can see the grain through the checkering it is a sign of superior work. What point count is the checkering cut to? Seems pretty fine.
