          Are most of the Sears parts interchangeable with the Ryobi saws? Or maybe a better question: Are the saws actually the same as far as specs go or do they just look the same?

            most all parts are interchangeable.

              If you put the metal handwheel on, can you power your way through lack of lubrication of the shims but maybe in the process strip the threads in the motor casting?

                Better off stopping to figure out what is wrong before you power through cranking that handle too hard!

                I must admit I have a certain affinity for the 22811 handle's looks compared to the BT3100s...
