    Yikes!

Well - was using my BT to cut some oak - and the throat plate popped up and tapped the blade -----

The blade's fine ---- but I had to switch the throat plate to my zero clearance.

    Only down-side --- no more kerf/anti-kickback.

Was a little surprised and scared when the saw grabbed the throat plate, though ---- will be bolting it down for now on (once I get a replacement).

scares me to think of a loose throat plate next to a madly spinning blade. I know some saws do that but I wouldn't like it.

No way I would turn my BT on without the throat plate screws in place.

        lesson learned ---

By the way - nobody can convince me the BT3000 is under-powered.....

I've got a sawed off throat plate to prove it....

I cut an opening for my riving knife in all my ZCTPs, as well as use all 4 screws.

Same here. The owner's manual instructs to cut the ZCTP for the riving knife.

I first used the OEM plates, but they will flex a bit, especially after the slot is cut for the knife. The ones I made from some maple flooring a much more rigid.

I can't imagine trying to use the saw without the throat plate securely fastened. I don't even like the OEM plate that only screws down to the front... That scares me too...

???? I don;t get it. Why does your OEM plate screw down only to the front? I have four screws for regular as wells as ZCTPs.

BT3100 has spring clips in the back and a single screw in the front IIRC.

Exactly. Not sure why but the spring clips on mine have a habit of coming loose.

My ZCTPs have 4 screw holes, my dado insert has 3. I hate my OEM standard plate though... For what it's worth, I only use it for bevel cuts...

The OEM steel plate on the Craftsman 21829 has 3, one in the front and two in the back. The Craftsman plastic ZCTP have 4 screws.

Mine is difficult to pop in & out. Do your rear screws need to be tightened?
