    Ordering Wrenches.

My saw did not come with wrenches, is there anything else I should order from ereplacement parts at the same time that breaks often, or is a hard to find part? I will be ordering some belts as well. I am just finally getting my shop in working order (pics coming in another thread) and want to make sure I have on hand whatever else I might need.
    Thanks

    You have the BT3XXXX?

If so, then the shims may need orders. I don't remember who posted about the shims; do a search and you'll find it on this forum.
edit: make that the BT3000...I think the BT3100 doesn't have the problems.

Hmmm. Consumables on the BT series saws?

      Belts.
The plastic end pieces from the miter fence.

What else is your saw missing? Save yourself of shipping and order it at once if possible.

T nuts, knobs, etc are always handy to have for jigs and such.

Depending on where you are ordering from, might be a good time to grab a wide table kit and some legs... (IF you want the capacity that offers).

stuff that can break and is totally critical and unique to the saw
Belts (set of 2 around $10-20) - you never know when you might break them
shims if you have a BT3000 only

stuff that breaks and is unique and/or is small and cheap to order to have for spare:
        Zero stop (easily broken)

SMT latches (easily broken if you drop the SMT which apparently happens more often than you think-esp if you tilt your saw to move it using the BT wheels)

Eccentric screws for the zero stop and the SMT adjustments - they are brittle and snap easily if overtorqued

Plastic pieces at the back end of the rip fence... these break from fatigue or being dropped.

Cosmetic parts that get cut or lost:
rail ends and or miter fence ends

        additional hint:
you only really need one flat wrench and that's for the end that locks the arbor. The arbor nut and the Riving knife mount nuts will work with regular 3/4" and 1/2" open end wrenches. You don't really need both flat wrenches which are $5 to 10 each.

After waiting almost a month to get a set of belts, I ordered a second set of belts and a spare set of wrenches since I misplace them, shims, and the end piece for the rip fence.

Having them on hand and knowing where they are has apparently prevented any damage to those parts and I haven't used a single one of them in 7 years.
