hahaha! Well, that, and maybe keeping the squeamish kids away from the house on Halloween.

I have a different way of weeding them out... I answer the door with a big snake 'round my neck, and it's usually the kids that stay, and the parents that bolt, leaving their kids to fend for themselves... It's great fun.

To the OP, Thanks! This is a case of getting something when it is on sale before you 'actually' need it. If you wait till you need it, you'll pay full price.

I called the 4 local stores looking for the Ridgid TS. Half the stores still had them marked at $499(no talking them down). Of the other two stores, one had a disp. model(yuk) and the other was sold out. I called a store 45mi north and paid for it over the phone(will-call). I was going up there this eve. anyways.

Still hoping for the $150 Bandsaw at Lowes.

Give up on that one, I checked with my local Lowes and they kind of laughed at me.

Thanks. That makes the deal even sweeter. That jointer should be more than adequate for my newbie needs. I better start making something.

Got the Ridgid jointer for $179 (with Lowes movers coupon) at the Martinez, CA HD. Left 4 more on the shelf. Awesome deal. Thanks for the heads-up, guys!

My HD did the deal today.

They had the granite table saw, the Ryobi 18v Li-Ion kit and the Ryobi 5 pc kit with the headphones. I picked one of those up. I went in last night & noticed all of the stuff stacked on a cart and asked for a price check on the Ryobi kit I was eying but it rang up $99. Today the deal was in.

The north Nashua, NH store (exit 6) has a jointer/planer, a display model table saw, lots of the tec 4 kits, and lots of the Dewalt drill/driver combo (includes the 7.2V mini-driver).

                          WOW - Jackpot!!!

Decided to stop in this morning to HD:

Makita driver - NEW in sealed box $21.00

                          Cabinet soft close bumpers - Regular $4.98 - $0.48 each (bought 35)

Metal 20" drawer sides with rollers - just add plywood to make a drawer - Regular $9.99 - bought 13 for $0.98 each

Seems like random clean the shelves deals

Had about a dozen of the ryobi tech 4 kits as well

Was going to pass on this sale until I saw that awesome deal on the Makita. Unfortunately they were all out, the tool floor guy even checked other stores in the area. Same with the Dewalt drill/driver combo. Picked up a Tek4 kit and was able to use a 20% off HF coupon on it.
