Thanks! I grabbed one of those Tek4 kits, mostly for the headphones. At 25dB (rather than the 22dB most regular ones have) they have pretty good performance and are comfortable. The speakers (for iPod etc) work without the battery, and have pretty decent sound but don't get very loud. Have to see how that works with loud equipment. Can't comment much yet on the voice stuff (which does need the battery).

The snips are surprisingly powerful, though a little awkward to use. The screwdriver seems nice. Not quite like the skill one, but OK. The flashlight is surprisingly powerful and will come in handy. I don't expect much use for the mobile power thingy (it comes with a lot of adapters, the iPod/iPhone one costs extra though), but I could see this being handy for some folks.

All in all not bad for $50.

HD Plymouth, MN had a stack of them by the tool coral this morning.

Great tip! Called my local HD this morning and they guy in the tool dept. said they had three of the Ryobi Tech4 combo kits marked down to $49. Ran over and snagged one. The headphones alone are $69 all by themselves, so it's a great deal with all the extra goodies!

If anyone is interested and local, the Starret City HD has (or had when I left there) 2 of the dw 4 piece kits and 3 of the ridgid 4 piece kits.
They also had a fe pieces of the Ryobi stuff, not sure which though.
Also, a 4' Ridgid angle grinder marked down from 89 to 39.

BTW: One store checked the computerized inventory of this store for me last night and told me they had zip, zed, nada, nuttin'. We must remember that humans still have a hand in this system, so the inventory is only as good as the humans involved with that particular store. Apparently, these guys were asleep at the switch when it came to recording inventory.

          UPDATE!

Same area (NYC), but I found a store in Ozone Park , ( queens, 111 st and rockaway blvd) that has almost everything.
At least 1 granite top (probably 2)
at least 2 cms (probably 3)
          dozens of the ryobi deals
at least 1 6 pc dw kit
at least 2 ridgid 5 piece kits
at least 3 ryobi 4 piecekits
at least 3 dw 4 piece kits
          etc.

The reason I say at least is because that is what was on the floor, not yet marked down, but the sale is on. There are most likely additional pieces in the rafters ( the 5 piece ryobi kit had one on the floor and 15 in the rafters)You may have to bring it to cs, unless they''ve fixed it by now.
          Hope this helps somebody!

              Dover- NJ no deals

I went in before work this morning all the deal items out there but no sales but reductions not like the ones posted here. They took $100 off the table saw now "499 rather than 599". I even brought the 5 piece Tek up to the register and it was still $99. Maybe they'll start on Thurs.

Well, I never said is was a tried and tested method so it may take some trial and error. I suggest picking another 2 or three saws and trying it out on those before trying it out on the keeper saw.

Or, go with taking it out piece by piece. That would be easier on your back, but wouldn't it just be a hoot to try out my plan?

Yeah, I couldn't decide between the tools in the 2 4 piece kits, so I got them both! I think I'll pick what I need, then ebay/craigslist the rest, pretty much at cost, if anyone is interested. Probably mostly the drills and drivers for sale, but I haven't decided for sure yet.

Just wanted to say a quick thank you to the original poster. I picked up the last Milwaukee miter saw in Pittsburgh. Now I need to sell my Dewalt saw to help pay off the credit card bill.

                          Ridgid 6-1/8 planer/jointer

I was hoping to find a good deal for a band saw or a drill press in Sacramento HD, but instead picked up the planer/jointer for $199, Model JP0610 (regular $239) Is this a good jointer?

Regular price is $429 for that jointer. Yes, it's considered a good one. I didn't know it was part of the sale.
