It worked! Just got back from HD with it in the back of my truck. I first went to the tool area with an online printout, and the guy told me "nope" they dont match online prices - I was insisting that they've done it before. He sent me over to Special Services, and the smiling lady behind the counter said "no problem, we'll definitely match that price". So, $319.20 it was - I guess that may be the trick, as the tool area guys were clueless on the price match. Looking forward to getting it set up. It's a heavy sucker...bring a friend...

    Thanks again and good luck!

By the way, it is the Ridgid I was referring to above, not the Delta.

          Congrats on the great deal.

Would you be able to scan your receipt and post it? With your success, I'm going to give it another try and maybe with your receipt in hand, that will help.

          Thanks.

No problem T-Bone - receipt attached. (it looks odd because I received $200 in Amex gift checks that I used towards this, and they were in $25 increments) - but it shows the full amount and the manual adjustment of $80. Tell them to call Jennifer in Special Services at the Tampa store if they need to know how to do it. Let me know if it works... Good luck!

Thanks for the receipt. Unfortunately, no luck. Stopped by after work and they will simply not budge. All 3 managers that I've approached in the last two weeks on this jointer say they are told in their meetings not to match the HD web site prices. And I'm not the type to go over someone's head so I'll just hold out for the Helena Lowes to open this month across the street and see if they will deal on the Delta during their Grand Opening sale.

Hopefully someone else can use your receipt to get a good deal.

              Thanks again.

I got it! ridgid joiner/planer from hd, they price matched their online price. the first store said they dont right off the back, but the second said that he had to think, he check online and then called the manager, and then after talking for about 5 minutes, he said sure. when i asked them if they would accept the 10% moving coupon from lowes, he said the manager wont go for "double dipping". those were his words, i didnt really like his term, but couldnt complain on getting about $77 off store price. the joiner is extremely heavy, so leaving it in the van for tonight but i have to think of a way of getting it out tomorrow?

i dont see myself using this machine in the next two/three months. but had to get it now otherwise, like always, when i want to get something i need, its not on special, things are always on special before or after i get my stuff.

thanks goes to the person who started this post: "cheeky". i wonder how many other poeple bought one?

cheeky: if i may ask, do you also have a ridgid planer/joiner? if not then what brand? if you dont have one, then what is your setup when you want to join?

GaryA: dont forget to register your product with ridgid within 90 days of your purchase date to get "lifetime service warrenty".

lcm1947: so did you give the price matching a try aswell? or did you do with the delta?

Congrats! I backed my truck up to the garage, and slid the back out first, then pushed it in by myself....heavy it is. Good call on the warranty...thanks!

                    For anyone interested...it ends tomorrow

If I was still living in Denver, I don't think I'd have a problem because there were probably 10 HDs within 30 minutes and at least one of them would match. Montana is a little different story. We have one HD in Helena. There are also HDs in Great Falls, Bozeman, and Missoula but all three of those are 1.5-2 hours away in different directions. I moved here partly to get away from it all and that I did. I'm dealing with this by telling myself that I'm holding out for an 8" jointer someday. Man, that Ridgid looks nice, though. In any case, the internet sale (for $319) I think ends tomorrow so I'm out of time on this one.

No footprint I haven't brought one yet. I think I'm going to buy one then think about the space problem I already have in the garage and think I won't. Back & forth, back & forth. So for now I'm sitting on my thumbs still trying to decide. I really just don't have the space and am really afraid that if I get one I'll be miserable constantly having to move tools, benches and stuff around. I hate that. Right now I'm thinking of just using the router. Maybe that will tell me if I just can't live without one or if I just have to have one.

lcm1947, them extending the sale date throws another wrench into your delema. like i said before, after reading niki's artricle or joining, i stopped looking for one. however, once i saw the deal, as much as i hate to spend money right now, i went and got one. i have 90 days to decide, most likely i will keep it but i can say i bought it on sale, rather than: **** it, i missed the deal AGAIN . i too have a small one car garage that is right now dedicated to my wood working, but i usually pull the machines out to work (on the driveway) and then back in, so its getting tuff right now as well.

well good luck deciding, when it comes to tools, it gets hard for me to decide at times .... (now that i am thinking, maybe its like that for all things ... )

                            good luck!
