Gee I never realized, and I have a can which I think I only used once.
Isn't that ridiculous though? Even if you had the only can left in the country, why would anyone think it's worth that kind of money?
How about Butcher's Paste Wax, are they still makeing that?Think it Through Before You Do! -

I have my favorite colognes that have stopped production at times, favorite specialty shampoos that stopped production during COVID and a few other things - There are people that watch discontinued items and if they can find it, buy it and wait a few weeks or month or two and raise the prices a dozen to a hundred fold.
I pass on the ripoff prices.Hank Lee

Every three months I wax my tablesaw, jointer, Festool tracks and router table and fence. My can of JPW is almost gone after 15 or so years. The ShopSmith maintenance kit came with a can of Minwax paste wax that seems to be functionally equivalent and is I've only used a couple of times. The Minwax is $17.98 a can at Menards and would save a little over $200 off the JPW.
I wonder if anyone will ever actually pay that much.Chr's

A couple of MINWAX waxes - not sure if either contains silicone or not:

Those are both the same. 78500 is a single can and 785004444 is a case of 4 cans. They do have a dark color as well that uses the same product code. I don't know if it contains silicone or not but my anecdotal evidence that it doesn't would be, someone at ShopSmith would have looked at that before including it in the maintenance kit and I've used it in the shop and never had an issue.
Hardly conclusive evidence so I reached out to Minwax with their contact us form and will report back when/if I get an answer.👍 2

The response from Minwax is as follows:
"The Paste Finishing Wax is a blend of natural and synthetic waxes, the data pages do not show silicone as an ingredient. I have attached the data pages for your reference, please let me know if you have further questions or concerns."
