If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

All the tools in world, no matter what their price or quality is going to help you make furniture for $50, IMO. Even a simple book case is going to be more than that at today's prices.

That’s probably the cost of the plans they want to sell you!

I know I don't build furniture in the quality or quantity that many of the members here do. For me, it's not a matter of interest as it is time; it just seems like I've got too many other things on my schedule. But you know, I've never used 'plans' that someone else made or that you had to purchase. For the few things I'm made over the years, it's been a matter or making something to fit a particular space or use and then I go from there, usually drawing it first.

              Happy Thanksgiving,

Agreed, but some people have to have another persons plan in front of them before they can do anything. If it wasn’t for plans most of the popular woodworking magazines would be hardly more than a cover and a stack of advertisements!
I personally do search through plans before I start cutting wood to get an idea, for instance building a coffee table, to get the height others use and maybe the length and width. Dining tables mare another dimension I like to look for on others plans. There are a world of ideas that can be discovered by viewing others plans. Most of my plans consist of the thin white pieces of cardboard dividers used in 30 pack cases of beer! They don’t blow off the cutoff table like regular paper. For the record, my neighbors save me their beer dividers.

Ha-ha . Good one. Making own furniture is way too complicated for my skills at the moment, but i already started with some small and simple things.
For the proper furniture i still contact felt right customer service , cause those guys have some amazing quality products.
Where do you guys purchase most of your furniture? Any favorite shop?

That is why I am always on the lookout for orphaned pallets.

don't know where the original is but there are a lot of hits if you go to youtube and search for $50 projects, furniture, cheap projects etc.

If you want to see well equipped workshops, there's lots of those on you tube, and various woodworking sites as well.
