    Thoughts, prayers, karma, whatever needed....

Got word on Friday that my 50 year old brother in law was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. I'm pretty much beside myself at this point, not sure what options are, but I know at this stage the prognosis isn't historically good...

To use an old military paraphrase, pray if you got em.

Any prayers, good thoughts, whatever you got, we could use all the help possible to kick this thing. He's too young to be this sick, and his daughters need him around still!

Big box of good thoughts coming your way from Minnesota.

My thoughts and prayers will be with your family.

My FIL was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma 3 years ago. There were golf ball sized tumors in his lung and smaller ones in his liver. The doctors in Thailand had nothing left to treat him with. We have collaborators at work who were doing a clinical trial on melanoma; my wife got him enrolled in the trial, and within a couple of months of starting treatment, the cancer was completely wiped out. Two years on, he's still cancer free.

You can search for clinical trials in your area by going here. I just put Houston in because that's where you're from, but your brother could filter by other locations. His physician may be able to help guide him on which trial would be suitable--assuming he's a candidate.

I know there has been a tremendous amount of work that has been done cancer research wise over the years and things aren't nearly as bad as they were say 20 years ago, but it still is a kick in the crotch as it were...
