Twistsol comes from the name of the company my college roommate and I founded back in 1986 which is Twist Solutions, Inc. It started out as the computer version of anything for a buck. He moved on to other things and I've been consulting using that name ever since with a few "Real" jobs scattered in between.

AFAIK I'm a third generation wood worker. My dad is from Independence Iowa. He has had a passion for walnut his whole life probably due to its abundance in Iowa and its use in gunstocks. The smell of milled walnut brings back memories of my childhood and my grandfathers woodshop, only been there a few times. I added the extra "L" to make it unique and for emphasis, I should have just spelled it Black walNUTT that would have maybe made my intentions more clear about my passion for walnut.Donate to my Tour de Cure

SCMHOGG=Stephen Clive Malcolm Hogg. Horrid name given when I was born in England. I dropped the Clive when I became a citizen here.

"Knotscott" goes back to 2005 to the days when Woodnet was the Romper Room of wwing websites. I had just posted at Woodnet about buying a Craftsman 22124 hybrid to replace my tricked out General International contractor saw. In those days it was possible to change your login name to just about anything you wanted, including someone else's login name ....a couple of members thought it would be fun to make some posts disguised as me, going on about how I'd had a brain injury, and was suffering from a lapse of reasoning, wasn't myself, etc.....many posts in a matter of hours.....it was actually pretty funny, but with no end in sight anytime soon, I opted to change my login from my real name to "knotscott" so I could at least tell which posts were really mine! It's been with me ever since.
p.s.: I became "knottscott" here, when I requested my login be updated to knotscott....a typo led to the login you'll see only at BT3!Happiness is sort of like wetting your pants....everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.Comment

In my first real job in and out of college for 8 years, I helped elucidate the DNA sequence of the first eukryotic plant genome, Arabidopsis thaliana. ATGC are the four nucleotides that make up everyone's DNA--adenine, thymine, cytosine, and guanine. Paul is my first name.
Mine's my initials - big surprise...JRComment
