Just going through some of my old tools and the question went through my mind: "What tools do I wish I hadn't bought?" One that immediately came to mind was Board Buddies. They worked. It's just they took 30 minutes to install to do 15 seconds of work. Another one I still have is a Slick Plane. Just don't think it is too slick. In my hands, it tends to tear the wood. Maybe, it's just me. What tools do you guys leave on the shelf?

I was thinking about something similar lately. I'm not sure if it's because I don't spend a lot, or I'm very careful about my research, but I have very few regrets. I've returned things, but that happens. My biscuit joiner. Creepy model, but I barely use it anyway. A powered hand plane. Never used it then gave it away. $15, but still.
My table saw. I love it, and it was cheap, but I think I would have been happier in the long run with a hybrid. That's about it.

Anything to do with wood working... I have become addicted and it's all their fault!
I have enough problem with beer and cigarettes and women, (well, maybe not so much women, just my kitty girls that like to help me all the time).
Ever tried to run a board through a table saw when the kitty sits on the table and isn't afraid of the noise? Especially with her tail flipping back and forth across the blade?
I could get rid of the kitty kids, but then the new problem would would include mice, rats, snakes and various bugs!Comment

Skil jig saw... Annoys me every time I use it. Makita quarter sheet sander. Never has worked right. Firestorm router. Beyond bad, Ryobi detail sander. I have used it on one project, and found that handmade sanding blocks allow me to get into "those" spots better, and get the job done.Last edited by dbhost; 08-19-2012, 09:01 PM.Please like and subscribe to my YouTube channel. P C PRofile Sander and Rotozip. Bought a Gorilla Gripper and while it works fine for holding full sheets of ply - the position of holding and carrying a full sheet of plywood is VERY uncomfortable and hard to manage for a mid size person or smaller. One needs bulky muscles to handle that.Hank Lee

- Low pressure sprayer never used and probably never will
- doweling jig never used (but I might )
- I have 4 different basic battery drills. Why? 'cause each one looked 'cooler' than the one before! Yet I only use 0ne (the first of course)
- battery tools from different manufacturers. Want to guess how many chargers I now have, and how much space they take up???We all have to go sometime, just not yet!Comment

Electric stapler. Usually doesn't have the power to drive the staple all the way in.
Blade stabilizer. Waste of money, on the BT3 at least. Reduces cut depth and doesn't really improve anything.Loring in Katy, TX USA
If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.
