You beat me to that one!

My water softener and Reverse Osmosis system is in the garage, so I don't leave it unheated during a hard freeze. I place the radiator next to the RO tank and leave it on low. Keeps things from freezing up...

Ok, so that was a silly question. I just had to ask since I'm still learning how to take care of my power tools. I already keep the cordless drills and batteries in the house.

Don't keep your wood glue in there. Paints and other items that may be water soluble can also freeze.

Oil based stuff and thinners are probably fine. Anything pressurized should be kept from the freeze. Drain your air compressor too. Not just the air but the water as well. Empty any moisture traps.
Get plenty of groceries in case the weather guys were only being optimistic.

Thanks for the reminder, I need to dump my compressor tank!

Any diet soda out there will also freeze at about 31 deg. Regular soda and beer is good for a few deg lower. But if you have some hard cider let it freeze and decant what does not freeze, a nice drink!

oh wait, I think it needs to be about 20 below for the apple cider trick...

i hope my sprinkler system survives... I've never winterized it before, reading what I should have done tells me that the sprinkler systems installed here in Houston aren't mean to be drained or purged... there's just no points to to do that.
Fortunately it won't freeze much if any below the surface, it'll be below 25F but not all day and all night. Daytime temps will be above freezing so the below ground pipes won't freeze.
