Yeah, it's pretty much amateur night here in NYC. That being said, if you're young enough to deal with it, it's probably pretty neat watching the ball in person. Did that 40 years ago or so. Or so my friends tell me:-)
You don't need a parachute to skydive, you only need a parachute to skydive twice.

Pretty much the same here. The granddaughter is spending the night so the kids can go to a party.

We will be doing our usual, nice dinner at home and then go downtown around 11:30 to watch ball drop and fireworks.

We're going to stay home, as usual, and watch "Cars," on Blu-ray. I bought a Blu-ray player a few months ago, along with a couple-three BD movies to start my collection, and have yet to watch that title. (I chose it partly because I wanted to see it, but mostly because many say it's a good reference disc for showing what a BD system can do.)

Whether I stay up to watch the ball drop is always an ad hoc decision. Some years I do, some years I don't.

I'll be working. I'm a photographer and a bride booked me for her new years eve ceremony. It the stroke of midnight I'll be firing away.

We'll be at home where it's safe.

Have ONE rum on ice at the stroke of midnight. Then race out back to my firing range and fire off a mag of 7.62.
May all you here on the BT3 have a safe and wonderful NEW YEAR!

Sitting by the fire with the LOML next to me and a warm cat on my lap, sipping Egg Nog (the "hard" kind", while watching the NYC New Year's Eve celebration.

My LOML and I made a pact many years ago that we don't venture out on NYE. Tonight we will have our usual cocktail, a special rib roast dinner with some good wine, watch a little TV or a DVD and be in bed by nine.

I hear the thing to do is fire up the compressor, and take the air nailer outside and fire a few brads into the air at midnight....

There are no plans like no plans. We don't go out on NYE...too many drunks. It was a long night though. Fireworks kept the dogs dancing.
