Hang on to your teeth Houston, it's getting COLDER...

I know this isn't post worthy to you snow land folks, but...

According to weather.com, and NOAA, we are suposed to get SNOW as far south, and east as Galveston tomorrow afternoon...

This should be fun, watching people that have no idea how to drive in snow, drive in snow...

    I'm calling in sick.

We have those in Wisconsin, too. Seems some people can drive in snow year after year and never figure out how to do so safely or efficiently.

Who would have thought! Here in the real north country we had about a half an inch that melted two days ago, today its been 50 degrees. All the snow machine riders are pacing the floor.

We had about 4" at my house in early October, gone a day later with lots of nice 50-60 degree weather in November and no snow. This morning we had a light dusting.

Apparently we'll be having some cooler weather for a few days now, but nothing in the forecast to make the x-country skiers, or snowmobilers happy... With the lakes still wide open they can't even go out on the ice to pretend we're still a decent wintersports state :S

Chance of snow here on Saturday. If we get any, won't be much and it won't stick around though.

It's supposed to start here on Sunday and continue for a week. So far no amounts forecast but I have to go to the Bay Area next week and could get stuck there unable to drive back safely!

I'm looking forward to a day of snow in Houston! Last year we also had one day in Dec and our then 1 1/2 year old loved it. It had started on our way to pick her up at daycare and was falling nicely when we got home. She was saying "oooow". I wanted it to snow again this year for her and it will.

We pulled in the plumeria and protected our hose bids and sprinkler pipes.

My freeze caps are on the hose bibs, I have no clue what else I am going to bring in. Are mums freeze sensitive?

The snow we got last year I only saw through an airplane window. I believe it was December 12, a Friday as well, and LOML and I were at Bush ariport in the plane, on the taxi way when we started seeing snow through the plane window... It was something painfully early like 5:00 A.M. or something like that... (We were in Cancun by 10:00 A.M. sipping margaritas in the hotel bar waiting for our room to be ready to check in...).

Then prior to that, Christmas eve / Christmas day 2004. I was single then, and spending Christmas with one of my best friends from college, and his family... I wish I had taken pics of my truck with snow on it... If the snow sticks this time, sure will...

Right now it's 0800 and 6.4 degrees F with blue skies and sunshine. We got about 3/16" of white stuff on the driveway and lawn. The good news is it's 63 degrees in the shop with 1/16" of sawdust all over everything. As soon as I finish my Latte and toast it's back to my future granddaughters crib project. Life is good.

I don't think you'll have any problem with the mums. If you have any succulents you'll want to protect them. DAMHIKT.

Nope, just mums, hibiscus, Crepe Myrtle, a maze of spider plants that can die for all I care, and a couple of Lord only knows what that LOML showed up with...

it's 1:20 PM now and its snowing all over Houston for over an hour - far north (Humble, Kingwood), far west (Katy) and even south part way to Galveston (Friendswood). And we're talking not flurries but big white fluffy snow thats sticking to cars, lawns, and houses. Still only around 33-34 degrees. Still, very impressive for Houston.

P.S. its 2:30 now, the snow has stopped, temps will keep dropping into the night - mid 20's they say then the streets will get icy sincey they're all wet now. Those of you not familiar with Houston we get some "snow" every 6-10 years but snow like this - maybe every 20 years.

Same here Pappy. Dallas and Houston got it, and all we had was 30 minutes of flurries.

Darn cold tonight, though! And, of course, 65 next week.
