Another eBay "situation"

When I ship using Priority, they do scam my packages upon receipt. That does not mean they are in the system though. They are physically, but not virtually.

The USPS website does have a thing where you put all the packages shipped that day in a scan form. They scan this form at the PO using a totally separate scanning computer. Not the main computers.

This form is not without it's own issues. Sometimes it works fine and packages immediately show as being accepted by the PO. A few times they haven't. The USPS website is aggravating at best. It times out in 5 minutes regardless of where you are in the shipping process. Not all back buttons work as they should. You should be able to edit the address from any page before you pay for and print postage. Not so.

I think most issues with this is software related.
I have tried Stamps.com as well, but they charge a monthly fee and still have their own issues.
The one that works best for me is Paypal shipping. I haven't had any issues with that.

The difference between the USPS and the UPS is that with USPS, you get a delivery confirmation number which is often confused with UPS's tracking number. They do not work at all the same.

I keep holding my breath in hopes that USPS will finally come into the computer age, but no joy yet.

"Media Mail" can be slooooooooow, much longer than the quoted 7-10 days. Sometimes it takes 2-3 weeks.

OTOH, stuff also seems to get lost when sent Media Mail. Query the Post Office first.

well the item showed up finally after 3-1/2 weeks with a flurry of activity on the USPS tracking page. Where it was for the first three weeks is a mystery.
If I get the second one I will return it to the sender by refusing it and give him a positive feedback witha comment about using slow Media mail (altho that's probably why his shipping charge was so low.)

Recap:
seller mailed me he shipped my ebay item immediately. Gave me USPS track number.
For two weeks it USPS sat there and told me that they were notified it was shipping but no further activity.
contacted seller after nearly three weeks - he said it may have been lost and would send another, please return first one if it ever arrives.
Then a flurry of tracking occurs 2 days on USPS track site and item appears with original track number a day or two later.
Nvere received another one.
final outcome:
I decided its 90% probable that he failed to send it after notifying the Post office that it was to be sent. It came under the original tracking number only after I contacted him the second time and he sent it then. And, the supposed second shipment never materialized after 2 more weeks.
Nonetheless I sent feedback of positve but noted a slow delivery in the comments and the survey part of FB.

Sounds fair. And somewhat like what I go through when I use the Free Super Saver shipping on Amazon...
